The easiest way to play music on Discord is to use a music bot in a voice channel. With Scrump, members can search for songs, paste supported Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music links, share a server queue, save personal playlists, and control playback with Discord slash commands. How to add a music bot to Discord

Add Scrump to your Discord server

Visit scrumpbot.com/invite, choose Add to Server, and select the server where you have permission to add apps.

Check voice permissions

Make sure Scrump can View Channel, Connect, and Speak in the voice channel. It also needs permission to send its queue and now-playing responses in the text channel where members use commands.

Join a voice channel

Join the voice channel where you want the music bot to play. Scrump connects to the channel occupied by the member who starts the queue.

Play your first song

Run /play, enter a song and artist in the search field, and select the correct autocomplete result.
Scrump normally joins automatically when you use /play. Run /join if you want the bot to connect before choosing a song. Paste a supported music URL into the /play search field. Scrump accepts tracks, albums, artists, and playlists from Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, and Apple Music. Artist links add the artist’s top 10 tracks.
Scrump uses the linked service to identify the title, artist, album, artwork, and intended recording. It then matches the music through its playable catalog instead of streaming audio directly from that provider. This means a valid item may occasionally be unavailable to play.
Use an HTTPS web link from Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music. Spotify and Deezer shortened sharing links are also supported. Provider app URIs and HTTP links are not supported.

How to scrobble Discord music to Last.fm

Scrump can scrobble music played in a Discord voice channel to Last.fm through .fmbot bot scrobbling. This lets each listener keep their own Last.fm listening history while the server uses Scrump for playback.

Add .fmbot to the server

A server manager must add .fmbot before Scrump can send track details for scrobbling.

Connect your Last.fm account

Use .fmbot to connect the Last.fm account that should receive your listening history.

Check bot scrobbling

Run /botscrobbling with .fmbot to check or configure your scrobbling settings.
When a song starts, Scrump sends it to .fmbot for eligible listeners in the active voice channel. You must be connected to that channel, not deafened, and connected to Last.fm. The now-playing message shows the number of listeners being scrobbled when at least one listener is eligible.

How to manage a Discord music queue

Every listener in Scrump’s active voice channel shares the same queue. Run /queue view to see the current song, upcoming songs, requesters, loop mode, and navigation controls. Common Discord music queue commands include:
  • /queue shuffle to randomize upcoming songs
  • /queue remove song to remove one entry
  • /queue remove my-songs to remove songs you requested
  • /skip current-song to skip or start a public skip vote
  • /player pause and /player resume to pause or continue playback
  • /player stop to stop playback and clear the queue
  • /now-playing to show the current song and progress
You must join Scrump’s active voice channel before changing playback. Clearing the queue with /queue remove all and changing server music settings require Move Members or a configured DJ role. How to make a Discord music playlist

Scrump playlists belong to your Discord account and can be reused across servers. Play a saved playlist directly from the shared queue command:
Start typing a playlist name and select the autocomplete result. Scrump keeps the saved order and applies the same queue, duration, blocklist, and per-user limits as other /play requests. Create an empty playlist:
Add a song by title or a supported music-service link:
Save the song currently playing:
You can also use /playlist create from-queue to save the current song and queued songs in their existing order.
/playlist songs add saves one song. If you provide an album, artist, or playlist link from any supported service, it saves only the first resolved track. Use /play to add the collection to the server queue, then /playlist create from-queue to save the resulting queue.

How to use Discord music filters

Scrump supports bass boost, rotating 8D audio, reverb, nightcore, playback speed, and volume changes.
Filters, speed, volume, and full-queue looping require an enhanced queue. A server with Plus or Pro receives enhanced music access. A Scrump Blue member also enhances the active queue while that member is participating in its voice channel. Discord music bot permissions and DJ roles

Most members can search, queue, and control music while they are in the active voice channel. Server-wide management actions require Move Members, Administrator, or a configured DJ role. Use these commands to manage trusted music roles:

Is the Scrump Discord music bot free?

Core playback, song searches, supported music-service links, queues, current-song looping, and personal playlists are available for free. A standard queue supports up to 250 songs and targets 64 kbps audio. Server Plus and Pro provide queues of up to 10,000 songs, target up to 256 kbps audio, and unlock filters, speed, volume, and queue looping. Scrump Blue gives similar queue benefits while the Blue member participates and expands that user’s personal playlist storage, but it does not unlock server-only features such as 24/7 mode. The actual audio quality is capped by the Discord voice channel’s bitrate. Review the Music plan comparison before choosing a server plan or Scrump Blue.

Why is the Discord music bot not playing?

If Scrump joins voice but you cannot hear music:
  • Confirm you are in the same voice channel as Scrump.
  • Check that Scrump is not server-muted and has Speak permission.
  • Check your Discord user-volume setting for Scrump.
  • Run /player resume in case playback is paused.
  • Try a well-known song to determine whether one recording is unavailable.
  • Use /leave, then start a fresh session with /play.
If Scrump rejects a link, use a supported HTTPS Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music track, album, artist, or playlist URL. If a command says there is no active queue, start a song with /play before using now-playing, lyrics, skip, seek, or add-now-playing commands. Paste an https://open.spotify.com/playlist/... URL or its shortened https://spotify.link/... sharing link into /play. Scrump adds resolved songs until it reaches the collection-resolution, queue, server playlist, per-user, duration, or blocklist limit.
