# How to Ping New Members on Join in Discord
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/automation/ping-on-join
Set up a Discord ping-on-join bot that briefly mentions new members in welcome, rules, verification, or onboarding channels when they join your server.
Scrump can automatically ping new members when they join a Discord server. This temporary Discord join ping helps people notice welcome messages, rules, verification steps, role menus, or onboarding instructions without leaving a permanent mention in the channel.
Setting up ping on join requires **Manage Server** permission.
## How to ping someone when they join Discord
Pick the text channel where new members should be mentioned. Common choices include `#welcome`, `#rules`, `#verification`, or `#get-roles`.
Run `/ping-on-join add channel:` and select the channel.
```text theme={null}
/ping-on-join add channel: #welcome
```
Run `/ping-on-join list` to confirm that the selected Discord channel is enabled.
When the next member joins, Scrump queues the mention and posts a short welcome ping in the configured channel.
## How Discord ping on join works
Scrump collects new member joins in 30-second batches. It posts a message such as `Welcome, @new-member` in each configured channel, waits about five seconds, and then deletes the message. The member still receives the Discord mention notification, while the channel stays clean.
This feature is sometimes called a Discord join ping, welcome ping, new-member ping, ghost ping on join, or automatic member mention. It is useful when important onboarding information already exists in a channel and you only need to direct the member's attention to it.
Ping on join sends a temporary mention. It does not replace a custom welcome message, assign roles, or verify the member.
## Manage ping-on-join channels
Use `/ping-on-join list` to view every configured channel.
Use `/ping-on-join remove channel:` to stop new-member pings in one channel.
```text theme={null}
/ping-on-join remove channel: #welcome
```
## Discord ping-on-join limits
* **Free servers:** One ping-on-join channel
* **Plus:** Up to 25 ping-on-join channels
* **Pro:** Unlimited ping-on-join channels
## Ping-on-join troubleshooting
If new members are not being pinged when they join Discord, check that:
* The channel appears in `/ping-on-join list`.
* Scrump can view and send messages in the selected channel.
* The selected destination is a Discord text channel.
* You waited at least 30 seconds for the queued join-ping batch.
* The test account actually joined after the feature was configured.
The temporary welcome mention is expected to disappear after about five seconds.
## Discord join ping FAQ
### How do I ping a new member when they join Discord?
Run `/ping-on-join add channel:` and select a welcome, rules, or verification channel. Scrump will briefly mention each new member in that channel after they join.
### Why would I use a Discord ping-on-join bot?
A join ping draws attention to onboarding instructions that new members might otherwise miss. It is especially useful for rules, verification, reaction roles, introductions, and server navigation.
### Does the new-member ping stay in the channel?
No. Scrump deletes the welcome ping after roughly five seconds, leaving the existing channel content in place.
### Can I ping new members in more than one Discord channel?
Yes. Free servers can configure one join-ping channel, Plus supports up to 25 channels, and Pro has no configured channel limit.
### How do I turn off automatic join pings?
Run `/ping-on-join remove channel:` for each configured channel. Use `/ping-on-join list` to check whether any remain.

# How to Set Up Discord Sticky Messages
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/automation/sticky-message
Create a Discord sticky message with Scrump, keep rules or announcements at the bottom of a channel, and learn how to edit, list, or remove sticky messages.
Scrump is a Discord sticky message bot that keeps an important message visible at the bottom of a busy text channel. After members chat, Scrump posts a fresh copy of the sticky message and removes the previous copy, so rules, notices, links, and announcements do not disappear above the conversation.
Setting up Discord sticky messages requires **Manage Server** permission.
## How to set up a Discord sticky message
Send a normal text message containing the rules, announcement, FAQ, event link, or other content you want to use as the sticky message. Markdown and Discord emojis are supported.
Right-click the message, or tap and hold it on mobile, then select **Copy Message Link**. The source message must be in the same Discord server and must contain text written by a person rather than another bot.
Use `/sticky-message add channel: message_url:`. Select the destination channel for the sticky post and paste the message link into `message_url:`.
```text theme={null}
/sticky-message add channel: #rules-and-chat message_url: https://discord.com/channels/123/456/789
```
Send a normal message in the destination channel. Scrump will refresh the sticky message after the channel becomes active.
## How Discord sticky messages work
A native Discord pinned message stays in the channel's pin list, but it does not remain at the bottom of the conversation. A sticky message bot solves that problem by reposting the selected content after new chat messages and deleting its older copy.
Scrump ignores bot messages and uses a short cooldown to avoid excessive reposting. Only the newest copy should remain in the channel. This makes Discord sticky messages useful for:
* Channel rules and posting requirements
* Support instructions and frequently asked questions
* Event schedules, applications, and important links
* Marketplace disclaimers or ticket guidance
* Reminders that should stay below the latest conversation
## Create a rich embed sticky message
Use `/sticky-message edit` to open the server dashboard editor. You can replace the plain sticky message with a Discord embed containing an author, linked title, description, timestamp, fields, and a full-size image. The editor includes a live Discord preview.
Free servers can use the default blue colour, a regular image, and up to two embed fields. Scrump Plus unlocks custom colours, a thumbnail, footer text with an optional icon, and up to 25 fields.
## Manage or remove sticky messages
Use `/sticky-message list` to see every channel with a configured sticky message.
Use `/sticky-message edit` to change sticky text, embed content, or styling from the dashboard.
Use `/sticky-message remove channel:` to stop the automatic sticky message in a channel.
```text theme={null}
/sticky-message remove channel: #rules-and-chat
```
Free servers can configure one sticky-message channel. Plus supports up to 25 sticky-message channels, while Pro has no configured channel limit.
## Discord sticky message troubleshooting
If the Discord sticky message is not posting, check the following:
* The source message link belongs to the same server.
* The source is a non-empty text message written by a member, not a bot.
* Scrump can view the source channel and read its message history.
* Scrump can send messages in the destination channel.
* The selected channel appears in `/sticky-message list`.
* A member, rather than a bot, has sent a new message to trigger the refresh.
## Discord sticky message FAQ
### How can I set up a sticky message in Discord?
Invite Scrump, send the text you want to keep visible, copy its Discord message link, and run `/sticky-message add channel: message_url:`. Scrump will automatically keep a fresh copy at the bottom of the selected channel.
### Can Discord pin a message to the bottom of a channel?
Discord's built-in pins do not stay at the bottom of chat. A Discord sticky message bot such as Scrump can repost a message after new activity, which creates the always-visible effect people often want from a bottom-pinned message.
### Can a Discord sticky message use an embed?
Yes. Run `/sticky-message edit` and use the web editor to create a rich embed sticky message with a title, description, fields, images, and other styling.
### How do I stop or delete a sticky message?
Run `/sticky-message remove channel:` and select the configured channel. Scrump stops refreshing the post and removes that channel from the sticky-message list.

# Discord Sticky Roles
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/automation/sticky-roles
Keep Discord member roles after they leave and rejoin with Scrump sticky roles, configurable blocked roles, slash commands, and a dashboard toggle.
Scrump sticky roles is a Discord role persistence feature. When it is enabled, Scrump records a member's roles when they leave your server and restores the roles that still exist when that same member rejoins.
Sticky roles is disabled by default and requires **Manage Server** and **Manage Roles** permission. Scrump also needs its bot role above every role it should restore.
## Enable Discord sticky roles
Run the enable command from a server-management channel:
```text theme={null}
/sticky-roles enable
```
To turn the feature off later, run:
```text theme={null}
/sticky-roles disable
```
You can also open the **Sticky roles** page in the Scrump server dashboard and switch **Enable sticky roles** on or off. The dashboard saves the same server setting as the slash commands.
## Block roles from being restored
Some roles should never come back automatically, such as temporary event roles, verification roles, muted roles, or staff roles. Plus and Pro servers can add those roles to the sticky-role blocklist:
```text theme={null}
/sticky-roles block-role add role: @Temporary Event
/sticky-roles block-role remove role: @Temporary Event
/sticky-roles block-role list
```
The dashboard has a multi-select control for the same blocklist. Saving the dashboard form replaces the complete list, so remove a role from the selection when it should become sticky again.
## Sticky role plan limits
| Plan | Blocked roles |
| ---- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Free | Sticky roles are available, but blocked-role configuration is not included |
| Plus | Up to 5 blocked roles |
| Pro | Unlimited blocked roles |
If a server downgrades, existing blocked roles remain respected. Free servers cannot add new blocked roles until Plus or Pro is active.
## How role restoration works
Scrump saves role IDs, not role names, when a member leaves. On rejoin it checks each saved role and skips it when:
* The role was deleted or no longer belongs to the server.
* The role is managed by a Discord integration.
* The role is the server's `@everyone` role.
* The role is in the blocked-role list.
* Scrump cannot assign it because of Discord role hierarchy or **Manage Roles** permission.
Role restoration is idempotent. A reconnect or duplicate Discord event will not create duplicate roles, and a new leave event records the member's current roles again.
## Sticky roles troubleshooting
If a member's roles are not restored, check that:
1. **Sticky roles** is enabled with `/sticky-roles block-role list` or in the dashboard.
2. Scrump has **Manage Roles** permission.
3. Scrump's bot role is above the missing role in **Server Settings → Roles**.
4. The role is not managed, deleted, or listed as a blocked role.
5. The member rejoined the same Discord server with the same account.
Scrump does not restore roles while the feature is disabled, and it cannot restore a role that Discord no longer allows the bot to manage.
## Discord sticky roles FAQ
### Does sticky roles work for a member who leaves before I enable it?
No. Scrump starts recording roles after the feature is enabled. Members who leave before that point have no saved snapshot.
### Are role names or permissions copied?
No. Scrump stores role IDs and reapplies the existing Discord roles. Renaming a role does not break restoration, but deleting and recreating a role gives it a new ID and it will not match the saved role.
### Can I stop one role from coming back?
Yes. Plus and Pro server managers can use `/sticky-roles block-role add role:` or the dashboard blocklist. The blocked role is filtered at restore time.
### Is sticky roles the same as auto roles?
No. Auto roles assign a configured onboarding set to every new member. Sticky roles restore only roles that a returning member had before leaving.

# How to Set Up Anonymous Discord Confessions
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/confessions
Create an anonymous Discord confession channel with Scrump, accept confession replies and images, enable optional moderator logs, and block abusive submitters.
Scrump is an anonymous Discord confession bot that lets members submit a private slash command and publishes the confession without showing their identity to the public channel. Server managers can configure the confession channel, enable optional moderator logs, and ban abusive users by confession ID.
Setting up and moderating Discord confessions requires **Manage Server** permission.
## How to make a confession channel in Discord
Create or select the text channel where anonymous confessions should appear, such as `#confessions`.
Run `/confess-admin set-confession-channel channel:` and select the public destination.
```text theme={null}
/confess-admin set-confession-channel channel: #confessions
```
Run `/confess-admin enable` to allow members to submit confessions.
Run `/confess-admin view` to confirm that the module is enabled and the correct channel is selected.
Scrump needs permission to send messages in the confession channel. Leave the `channel:` option empty when running the set-channel command if you want to remove the current destination.
## How members submit anonymous confessions
Members run `/confess confession:` and enter the message they want Scrump to publish.
```text theme={null}
/confess confession: I really enjoyed the community event this weekend.
```
Optional confession command fields include:
* `replying_to:` to reply to an existing numbered confession
* `image_url:` to include an image URL with the confession
The slash-command response is private to the submitting member. Scrump posts the public confession as a numbered embed without displaying the member's name.
## Discord confession logs and privacy
Plus and Pro servers can run `/confess-admin set-log-channel channel:` to send private moderation logs to a selected staff channel.
```text theme={null}
/confess-admin set-log-channel channel: #confession-logs
```
When confession logging is enabled, Scrump warns the member before the confession is posted and asks them to confirm. Authorized managers can use the log channel and confession dashboard records to associate a logged confession with the submitting Discord user.
Describe the logging policy clearly in your server rules. Public confession posts are anonymous to other members, but they are not anonymous to authorized moderators when logging is enabled.
Leave the `channel:` option empty to disable the confession log channel.
## Moderate anonymous Discord confessions
Every confession receives a server-specific ID. If a member abuses the anonymous confession system, use that ID without publicly exposing the account.
Ban the submitter of a confession:
```text theme={null}
/confess-admin ban-by-confession-id confession_id: 123
```
Remove that confession ban:
```text theme={null}
/confess-admin unban-by-confession-id confession_id: 123
```
Run `/confess-admin disable` to stop all new confession submissions. Existing posts remain in Discord unless a moderator deletes them.
## Discord confession troubleshooting
If `/confess` does not publish a message, check that:
* `/confess-admin view` shows the confession module as enabled.
* A confession channel is configured.
* Scrump can send messages and embeds in that channel.
* The member is not banned from using confessions.
* A `replying_to:` ID exists in the same server.
* The member confirmed the warning when moderator logging is enabled.
## Anonymous Discord confession FAQ
### How do I add anonymous confessions to Discord?
Set a channel with `/confess-admin set-confession-channel`, enable the module with `/confess-admin enable`, and tell members to use `/confess confession:`.
### Are Discord confessions really anonymous?
The public confession message does not display the submitter's identity. If the server enables Plus confession logging, authorized moderators can identify the account and the member receives a warning before posting.
### How can moderators see who sent a confession?
Enable a private log channel before submissions with `/confess-admin set-log-channel`. Logged confessions include the submitting account for authorized moderation and abuse handling. Scrump does not present that identity in the public confession channel.
### Can members reply to an anonymous confession?
Yes. Use the original confession number in the optional `replying_to:` field. Scrump labels the new post as a reply without revealing the member.
### Can I ban someone from the confession bot without exposing them?
Yes. Run `/confess-admin ban-by-confession-id` with the abusive confession's ID. Scrump resolves the associated account privately.

# How to Run a Discord Giveaway
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/giveaways
Create and manage Discord giveaways with automatic winners, timed entries, role requirements, bonus entries, rerolls, and giveaway bot commands.
Scrump is a Discord giveaway bot for creating timed giveaways, collecting entries, checking eligibility, and choosing winners automatically. Use it for Discord Nitro giveaways, game keys, server rewards, event prizes, or community competitions without manually tracking reactions or entrants.
Creating and managing Discord giveaways requires **Manage Server** permission.
## How to create a Discord giveaway
Run `/giveaway create channel: winner_count: prize: duration:` and complete the required options.
* `channel:` chooses the text channel or thread where the giveaway is posted.
* `winner_count:` sets how many winners Scrump selects.
* `prize:` names the Nitro, game, role, product, or other reward.
* `duration:` accepts relative times such as `30 minutes`, `2 hours`, `5 days`, or `1 week`.
* `message_requirement:` optionally requires entrants to have sent a minimum number of server messages.
* `suggested_server:` optionally displays another Discord server invite on paid plans.
```text theme={null}
/giveaway create channel: #giveaways winner_count: 1 prize: Discord Nitro duration: 5 days message_requirement: 10
```
Use the interactive setup message to add required roles. By default, entrants need every selected role. Paid plans can allow entrants who have any one of the selected roles.
Add bonus roles when supporters, boosters, or event participants should receive extra giveaway entries. Each role can award a different number of bonus entries.
Check the prize, end time, winner count, entry rules, and preview before publishing the Discord giveaway.
## Discord giveaway entry requirements
Scrump can make a giveaway more useful than a basic reaction giveaway. Available eligibility and entry controls include:
* Required Discord roles
* A minimum server message count earned after the giveaway starts
* Bonus entries for selected roles
* A suggested Discord server on paid plans
* Custom written requirements on paid plans, checked manually by the host
Required roles and message requirements are checked by Scrump. Custom written requirements are displayed to entrants but must be verified by the giveaway host.
## Manage an active Discord giveaway
Use `/giveaway manage` to open the management view for currently running giveaways.
Giveaways end automatically when the configured duration expires. To finish one early, copy the giveaway message link and run:
```text theme={null}
/giveaway end giveaway_url: https://discord.com/channels/123/456/789
```
To run the winner selection again after a giveaway has ended, use:
```text theme={null}
/giveaway reroll giveaway_url: https://discord.com/channels/123/456/789
```
A reroll does not exclude previous winners, so the same eligible member can be selected again.
## Discord giveaway bot limits
| Limit | Free | Plus | Pro |
| ------------------------------------ | ------------ | -------- | --------- |
| Bonus roles per giveaway | 1 | 15 | Unlimited |
| Required roles per giveaway | 1 | 15 | Unlimited |
| Bonus entries per role | 10 | 25 | Unlimited |
| Maximum giveaway duration | 14 days | 100 days | 100 days |
| Winners per giveaway | 10 | 100 | Unlimited |
| Custom requirements per giveaway | Not included | 15 | Unlimited |
| Concurrent giveaways | 2 | 50 | Unlimited |
| Hide the vote-for-bonus-entry prompt | Not included | Included | Included |
Paid plans can also remove the **Powered by Scrump** footer from the giveaway.
## Discord giveaway troubleshooting
If a giveaway bot command does not publish the giveaway, check that:
* Scrump can view the selected channel, send messages, embed links, attach files, and read message history.
* The duration uses a supported relative time such as `2 hours` or `7 days`.
* The winner count, duration, requirements, and concurrent giveaways are within the server plan limits.
* The copied URL for `/giveaway end` or `/giveaway reroll` is the original Scrump giveaway message.
* The giveaway has ended before you try to reroll its winners.
See [relative time syntax](/help-center/relative-time-syntax-with-scrump) for more duration examples.
## Discord giveaway FAQ
### How do I make a giveaway on Discord?
Run `/giveaway create`, select a channel, enter the number of winners, name the prize, and choose a duration. Scrump posts the giveaway, accepts eligible entries, closes it at the end time, and selects the winners.
### Can a Discord bot pick giveaway winners automatically?
Yes. Scrump automatically selects the configured number of eligible winners when the giveaway ends. Hosts can use `/giveaway reroll` to run the eligible winner selection again later.
### Can I require a role to enter a Discord giveaway?
Yes. During giveaway setup, add one or more required roles and choose whether entrants need every role or only one of them. You can also give selected roles bonus entries.
### Can I require members to be active before entering?
Yes. Set `message_requirement:` when you create the giveaway. Scrump checks how many server messages the member has sent after that giveaway started before accepting the entry.
### How do I end or reroll a Discord giveaway?
Copy the giveaway message link. Use `/giveaway end giveaway_url:` to end an active giveaway early, or `/giveaway reroll giveaway_url:` after it has ended to run the winner selection again. A previous winner may be selected again.

# How to Set Up Discord Leveling (Levelling)
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/level
Set up a Discord leveling or levelling bot with XP, rank cards, leaderboards, level roles, MEE6 imports, cooldowns, and channel or role XP multipliers.
Scrump is a Discord leveling bot, also spelled a Discord levelling bot, that rewards members with XP for participating in chat. Members can view rank cards and leaderboards, while server managers can configure level roles, XP cooldowns, multipliers, excluded channels, and rank-up notifications.
Configuring the Discord leveling system requires **Manage Server** permission.
## How to set up a Discord leveling bot
Run `/leveling-config module enable`. Members begin earning XP from eligible messages while the leveling module is enabled.
Run `/leveling-config rank-up-notifications mode:`. Rank-up alerts can be disabled, sent by DM, posted in the channel where the member earned XP, or sent to one specific channel.
Run `/leveling-config level-role add role: level:` for every Discord role you want Scrump to award at a level milestone.
```text theme={null}
/leveling-config level-role add role: @Regular level: 5
```
Run `/leveling-config view` to check whether leveling is enabled and review the server's XP, notification, multiplier, and level-role settings.
## Import MEE6 leveling data
If your Discord server is switching from MEE6, run `/leveling-config mee6-import` to import the server's existing MEE6 leveling data into Scrump. Importing member XP helps preserve established ranks instead of making the community start at level zero. The free import is normally available once per server.
Review `/leveling-config view` after the import, then test `/rank` and `/leaderboard` before announcing the new leveling bot.
## How Discord XP works
By default, an eligible human message awards a random 5 to 15 XP. A member can receive one XP award every 60 seconds, which reduces the benefit of rapid message spam, and messages from bots do not earn XP.
Free servers use those default XP values. Paid plans can change the XP cooldown and apply server-wide, channel, or role multipliers.
## Configure Discord XP
Use these leveling commands to control where and how quickly members earn XP:
* `/leveling-config no-xp-channel add channel:` prevents XP farming in a selected channel.
* Paid plans can use `/leveling-config set xp-earn-cooldown time:` to change the cooldown between XP awards.
* Paid plans can use `/leveling-config set global-xp-multiplier multiplier:` to change XP earning across the server.
* Paid plans can use `/leveling-config channel-xp-multiplier add channel: multiplier:` to boost or reduce XP in one channel.
* Paid plans can use `/leveling-config role-xp-multiplier add role: multiplier:` to change XP for members with one role.
Free servers use the default XP cooldown and a 1.0x global multiplier without channel or role multiplier rules. Channel and role multipliers can be removed with the corresponding `remove` subcommand. Server managers can also use the `/leveling-config give-xp`, `remove-xp`, `give-levels`, and `remove-levels` commands when a manual adjustment is needed.
## Discord level roles
Level roles automatically reward active members when they reach configured milestones. Use `/leveling-config level-role add role: level:` to create a reward and `/leveling-config level-role remove role: level:` to remove it.
Paid plans can run `/leveling-config level-role set-mode mode:` to choose between:
* Assigning every level role a member has earned
* Assigning only the highest level role the member has earned
Make sure the Scrump bot role is above every reward role in the Discord role list and has **Manage Roles** permission.
## Rank cards and Discord leaderboards
Members can use `/rank` to view their Discord rank card, current level, and progress toward the next level. Add the optional member parameter to view another member's rank.
Use `/leaderboard` to display the server XP leaderboard. Servers with a public leaderboard enabled can also share it with `/leaderboard-link`, and individual members can control their public visibility with `/leaderboard-privacy visible:`.
## Discord leveling plan limits
| Limit | Free | Plus | Pro |
| ---------------------------- | ------------- | -------------- | ------------ |
| Roles rewarded at each level | 1 | 10 | Unlimited |
| Levels with role rewards | 10 | 25 | Unlimited |
| No-XP channels | 5 | 100 | Unlimited |
| Global XP multiplier | Fixed at 1.0x | 0.25x to 10.0x | 0x and above |
| Channel XP multiplier rules | Not included | 15 | Unlimited |
| Role XP multiplier rules | Not included | 15 | Unlimited |
## Discord leveling troubleshooting
If members are not earning XP or receiving level roles, check that:
* `/leveling-config view` shows the module as enabled.
* The channel is not configured as a no-XP channel.
* The member is outside the configured XP cooldown.
* Global, channel, and role multipliers allow XP to be awarded.
* Scrump has **Manage Roles** and its bot role is above the reward role.
* Rank-up notifications are not set to **No alerts**.
## Discord leveling FAQ
### How do I add leveling to a Discord server?
Invite Scrump, run `/leveling-config module enable`, configure rank-up notifications, and add level rewards with `/leveling-config level-role add`. Members will then earn XP from eligible chat activity.
### Is it called Discord leveling or Discord levelling?
Both searches refer to the same feature. "Leveling" is the common US spelling and is used in Scrump's slash commands, while "levelling" is common in British English.
### How do members check their Discord level?
Use `/rank` for a visual rank card and `/leaderboard` for the server XP rankings.
### Can I stop XP farming in bot commands or spam channels?
Yes. Add those channels with `/leveling-config no-xp-channel add channel:`. You can also increase the XP earn cooldown or use channel XP multipliers.
### Can I transfer MEE6 levels to another Discord bot?
Scrump supports a MEE6 leveling import. Run `/leveling-config mee6-import`, then review the imported results with the rank and leaderboard commands.

# Bad-avatar detection
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/moderation/bad-avatar-detection
Check new Discord members against a private list of blocked avatars and automatically alert, timeout, kick, or ban matches
Bad-avatar detection checks the display avatar of each new member against a private set of reference avatars chosen by your server managers. It is useful for repeated impersonation, raid branding, and other known images that should be reviewed when a new account joins.
Bad-avatar detection is included with **Scrump Pro**.
Managing the avatar set requires **Manage Server**.
This is known-image matching, not a general profile classifier. Scrump only compares against the avatars your server has uploaded.
## Configure bad-avatar detection
Sign in at [scrumpbot.com](https://scrumpbot.com), choose your server, open **Security**, then select **Bad-avatar detection**.
Give the avatar an internal label, choose a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF image up to 10 MB, and select **Add avatar**.
Use **Exact matches only**, **Very high confidence**, or **High confidence**. Very high confidence is the recommended default.
Select **Alert and archive only**, timeout, kick, or ban. Timeout duration can be set from 30 minutes to 30 days and defaults to 1 day.
Preview Scrump's default message or replace it with a custom plain-text or embed version. Scrump sends it only after a timeout, kick, or ban succeeds.
Each server can save up to **100 avatars**. Scrump stores visual matching data, the label, and a small dashboard thumbnail. It discards the original upload after processing.
## Detection records and permissions
Every match appears in the member's moderation history and website moderation archive. Scrump also posts the result to the shared moderation log channel configured in the Security dashboard or with `/settings moderation set-log-channel`.
| Selected action | Required bot permission |
| ----------------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- |
| Alert and archive only | Send Messages and Embed Links in the moderation log channel |
| Timeout for the configured duration | Moderate Members |
| Kick | Kick Members |
| Ban | Ban Members |
For member actions, place Scrump's bot role above the members it may moderate. If the selected punishment cannot be applied, Scrump records an alert-only avatar match rather than claiming that the punishment succeeded.
## Subscription changes
If the server loses Pro, avatar matching and editing stop immediately. Saved avatars and settings remain visible as read-only data. Restoring Pro resumes matching without requiring the reference avatars to be uploaded again.

# Block MrBeast Scam Images on Discord
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/moderation/block-scams
Block MrBeast scam images, fake giveaways, and other image-based scams automatically in your Discord server
Requires **Manage Server** permission
Scrump can detect and block MrBeast scam images posted in your Discord server, including fake giveaways and impersonation scams. It also protects your community from other known image-based scams. You choose whether Scrump removes the message, takes action against the sender, or alerts your moderation team.
## Enable Scam Protection
Use `/automod enable block-scams` and select an option from `actions_taken`.
The available actions are:
| Option | What Scrump does |
| -------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Mute user and delete message** | Removes the message and temporarily mutes the sender. |
| **Ban user and delete message** | Removes the message and bans the sender. |
| **Kick user and delete message** | Removes the message and kicks the sender. |
| **Delete message** | Removes the message without punishing the sender. |
| **Send alert/log only** | Leaves the message and sender untouched, then alerts your moderators. |
Start with **Send alert/log only** if you want to review detections before enabling automatic moderation.
## Configure alerts and timeout duration
The command includes three optional notification settings:
* `alerts_channel` - The shared moderation log channel where detection alerts should be sent.
* `ping_alert_role` - A role to mention when an alert is sent.
* `dm_message` - An optional custom message that replaces Scrump's default account-security DM.
`alerts_channel` is required when using **Send alert/log only**. Setting it also changes the server's generic moderation log channel. You can manage the same channel with `/settings moderation set-log-channel` or in the Security dashboard.
When **Mute user and delete message** is selected, open **Security -> Scam protection** to choose a timeout from **30 minutes to 30 days**. The command response includes a direct dashboard link. The default is 14 days.
After Scrump successfully mutes, bans, or kicks a sender, it DMs them a default account-security warning with the server name, action taken, and recovery steps. Scrump sends this warning only once to each user per server.
Plus servers can replace the default warning with either plain text or an embed from the Security dashboard. The editor remains available with every selected action, but Scrump sends the message only after **Mute user and delete message**, **Ban user and delete message**, or **Kick user and delete message** succeeds. Every default or custom version includes a **Secure your Discord account** button that opens Scrump's account-recovery guide. If the user cannot receive DMs, the punishment still succeeds and a later detection can retry the notification.
Run `/automod enable block-scams` and choose the response you want from `actions_taken`.
Select a private moderation or logging channel using `alerts_channel`.
Select a moderator role using `ping_alert_role` if your team should be notified immediately.
Plus servers can open the Security dashboard to build a plain message or embed and preview it before saving.
```text theme={null}
/automod enable block-scams actions_taken: Ban user and delete message alerts_channel: #mod-logs ping_alert_role: @Moderators dm_message: Your account sent a known scam, so it was removed from the server.
```
## What Moderators See
Alerts identify the member, the channel, the message, and the action taken. Every confirmed alert, deletion, timeout, kick, or ban also appears in the member's moderation history and the website moderation archive available with Plus.
## Required Bot Permissions
Scrump needs permissions that match the actions you select:
* **Manage Messages** to delete scam messages.
* **Moderate Members** to mute users.
* **Kick Members** to kick users.
* **Ban Members** to ban users.
* **Send Messages** and **Embed Links** in the selected alerts channel.
If Scrump cannot perform the selected action, update its server permissions and run the enable command again.
## Disable Scam Protection
Use `/automod disable block-scams` to stop scam-image moderation for the server.
Disabling the feature clears its selected action, custom member message, and ping role. It does not clear the shared moderation log channel.
If the server loses Plus, saved custom scam messages are ignored and Scrump sends its default account-recovery guidance instead.
# How to Block Unwanted Images on Discord
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/moderation/block-unwanted-images
Use a Discord image filter bot to block exact or edited copies of unwanted images, then delete, timeout, kick, or ban and send private moderation logs.
Scrump can automatically block unwanted images on Discord by comparing new image attachments with a private list created by your server managers. Upload a banned image, meme, spam picture, or other disallowed visual once, then choose whether matching posts are deleted or also trigger a timeout, kick, or ban.
Block Unwanted Images is included with **Scrump Pro**.
Managing the Discord image blocklist requires **Manage Server**.
This feature is a custom known-image filter. It detects exact and visually similar copies of images that an administrator has uploaded. It is not a general NSFW classifier and does not block every image based on its subject.
## How to block an image on Discord
Sign in at [scrumpbot.com](https://scrumpbot.com), choose the Discord server, and select **Security**.
Open the **Block Unwanted Images** section, enter a short internal label, and select the reference image you want to ban.
Select **Add image**. Scrump validates the upload, creates its matching data, and adds it to the server's private image filter.
Start with **Very high confidence** and adjust only if you need exact matching or broader edited-image detection.
Choose **Delete message**, **Delete + timeout**, **Delete + kick**, or **Delete + ban**. Timeout duration can be set from 30 minutes to 30 days and defaults to 1 day. You can also select a private image log channel and customize the default member message as plain text or an embed.
Supported blocklist uploads are PNG, JPEG, WebP, and GIF files up to 10 MB. For animated GIFs, Scrump uses the first frame. Each server can keep up to **250 blocked images**.
Scrump keeps the administrator-provided label and a small management thumbnail. The original blocklist upload is discarded after processing.
## Discord image filter sensitivity
| Setting | Use when |
| ------------------------ | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Exact matches only** | Only an identical copy of the banned image should be deleted. |
| **Very high confidence** | Small common edits should still match. This is the default. |
| **High confidence** | You need broader near-duplicate matching and will monitor the results. |
Higher sensitivity can catch more resized, recompressed, or lightly edited versions of a blocked image, but broader matching should be monitored for unwanted detections.
## What happens when Scrump detects a blocked image
Scrump checks image attachments posted in the Discord server. When an attachment matches the server's private image blocklist, Scrump:
1. Attempts to delete the Discord message and apply the configured member action.
2. Writes the completed action to the moderation archive.
3. Sends an optional private log containing the sender, channel, matched entry, action, and detected image.
4. Sends the default plain-text DM, or the server's custom plain-text or embed version, after a deletion or punishment succeeds.
5. Counts the event separately from scam-image detections.
| Selected action | What Scrump attempts | Required bot permissions |
| -------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------ |
| **Delete message** | Delete the matching Discord message | Manage Messages |
| **Delete + timeout** | Delete the message and timeout the member for the configured duration | Manage Messages and Moderate Members |
| **Delete + kick** | Delete the message and kick the member | Manage Messages and Kick Members |
| **Delete + ban** | Delete the message and ban the member | Manage Messages and Ban Members |
Scrump must be able to view the channel and inspect the attachment. For timeout, kick, or ban actions, place the Scrump bot role above the members it may moderate. If a selected punishment fails but message deletion succeeds, the moderation archive records the deletion that actually happened.
The optional image log channel requires **View Channel**, **Send Messages**, **Embed Links**, and **Attach Files**. Images larger than 10 MB and unsupported files are not checked by this feature.
Scrump checks up to the first 10 image attachments in a message. It does not inspect videos, image URLs pasted as text, or remote images shown only through an embed.
## Remove an image or downgrade the server
Server managers can delete blocklist entries from the Security dashboard.
If the server downgrades below Pro, enforcement and editing stop. The private list remains stored and appears read-only, so upgrading to Pro restores it without requiring another upload.
## Discord image blocking troubleshooting
If an unwanted image is not being deleted, check that:
* The server has an active Pro plan.
* The reference image still appears in the Security dashboard blocklist.
* Scrump has the permissions required for the selected delete, timeout, kick, or ban action.
* The Scrump bot role is above the member when a timeout, kick, or ban is selected.
* Scrump can send messages, embeds, and files in the optional image log channel.
* The posted attachment is a supported image no larger than 10 MB.
* The edited image is similar enough for the selected sensitivity.
* The image quality is high enough for reliable visual matching.
## Discord image filter FAQ
### How do I block a specific image on Discord?
Open the Scrump Security dashboard, add the reference image to **Block Unwanted Images**, choose a sensitivity, and select the response. Scrump can delete matching Discord attachments or combine deletion with a timeout, kick, or ban.
### Can a Discord bot automatically delete banned memes or spam images?
Yes. Add each known meme, spam image, or other banned picture to the server's private blocklist. Scrump checks future attachments and removes matching copies.
### Can the Discord image filter timeout, kick, or ban a sender?
Yes. Server managers can choose delete only, a timeout from 30 minutes to 30 days, kick, or ban. Scrump needs the corresponding Discord permission and a role high enough to moderate the member.
### Does Scrump block every NSFW image or every image in a channel?
No. Block Unwanted Images matches against administrator-uploaded reference images. It is not a semantic content filter, NSFW classifier, or setting that disables all image uploads.
### Can Scrump block an image URL or a video?
No. This feature checks Discord image attachments. It does not filter pasted URLs, remote embed images, or video files.
### Can the Discord image filter detect resized or edited copies?
The **Very high confidence** and **High confidence** settings can match some visually similar copies, including common resizing or compression changes. Detection depends on how much the image has changed.
### Is Block Unwanted Images the same as scam-image protection?
No. The custom blocklist is for server-specific unwanted images. Scrump's separate [scam-image protection](/features/moderation/block-scams) detects known scam campaigns and can alert, mute, kick, or ban according to your automod settings.
### Does Scrump store the original blocked image?
Scrump discards the original administrator upload after processing. It retains matching data, the label, and a small management thumbnail for the private dashboard.

# Moderation commands and history
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/moderation/index
Warn, note, ban, purge, and review member moderation history with consistent Discord audit logs
Scrump provides moderation commands for staff actions and records supported actions performed through Discord's interface or other bots.
## Moderation commands
| Command | Purpose | Moderator permission |
| ------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------- | -------------------- |
| `/ban target: reason: delete_message_days:` | Ban a member and optionally remove recent messages | Ban Members |
| `/unban target: reason:` | Remove a server ban | Ban Members |
| `/kick target: reason:` | Remove a member from the server | Kick Members |
| `/timeout target: duration: reason:` | Temporarily prevent a member from interacting | Timeout Members |
| `/untimeout target: reason:` | Remove a member's timeout | Timeout Members |
| `/warn target: reason:` | DM a warning to a member and record it | Timeout Members |
| `/note target: note:` | Add a private staff note without notifying the user | Timeout Members |
Scrump also checks role hierarchy and its own Discord permissions before applying an action.
Every command response is private to the moderator and names the action and target. Moderation DMs use a Scrump-coloured embed by default, with the action as the title, the reason, the moderator, and the server name and ID.
## Review and revoke moderation
Use `/moderation-history target:` to open a private, paginated history panel for a member. Only server staff can use it. The panel shows who applied each action, its reason, source, date, duration, and current revocation state.
Moderators with the permission required for an action can use its inline **Revoke** button. Revocation does not erase the original record: Scrump records who revoked it, when it was revoked, and the reason. Where Discord supports reversal, Scrump also removes the active ban or timeout. Notes, warnings, purges, and historical actions remain as audit records and cannot be silently deleted.
## Purge messages
All purge commands require **Manage Messages**, respond privately, and include an audit-log reason. Amount-based commands accept between 1 and **250** messages.
| Command | What it removes |
| ------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/purge text amount: contains:` | Recent messages, optionally limited to messages containing text |
| `/purge user target: amount:` | Up to the requested number of recent messages from one user |
| `/purge after message_link:` | Up to 50 messages after a message in the same server |
| `/purge files amount:` | Messages with file attachments in the inspected range |
| `/purge emojis amount:` | Messages containing Unicode or custom Discord emoji in the inspected range |
## Configure the moderation log
Open your server at [scrumpbot.com](https://scrumpbot.com/dashboard), then select **Security**.
Under **Moderation logging**, select the private text channel where Scrump should post action summaries.
Resolve any missing-permission warning shown at the top of the page. Audit synchronization requires **View Audit Log**.
You can also run `/settings moderation set-log-channel channel:`. Leave `channel` empty to clear the configured log. Scam-protection alerts use this same moderation log channel.
Every Scrump moderation command creates one log-channel message and one archive entry. Scrump correlates the Discord audit entry with the command so the same action is not recorded twice.
Actions performed through Discord's interface and supported actions from other bots are also archived. Their source is labeled so they can be filtered separately.
## Moderation archive
Free servers can use the Discord log channel. Plus adds the searchable website archive and moderation analytics.
The archive can be searched by target, moderator, action, source, date, and reason. Archive rows cannot be deleted by server users. A server manager can redact reason text; the redaction is itself recorded.
| Plan | Website archive window |
| ---- | ---------------------- |
| Free | Not included |
| Plus | 30 days |
| Pro | 2 years |
## Custom target messages
Plus and Pro can choose a moderation message from a dropdown and customize the DM sent to that target. Messages can be plain text or a Discord embed and support these variables:
`{user}`, `{user_mention}`, `{server}`, `{server_id}`, `{action}`, `{reason}`, `{duration}`, `{expires}`, `{moderator}`, and `{moderator_mention}`
The dashboard includes a live Discord preview. `/moderation-history` is an operational staff panel and cannot be customized. Invalid configurations fall back to Scrump's default message. If the target cannot receive DMs, the moderation action still succeeds and the archive records the failed DM.
Custom messages stop being sent if the server loses Plus. The saved configuration remains available if the subscription is restored.
# Security dashboard
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/moderation/security-dashboard
Review moderation history, scam-image protection, reports, and server security settings
The Security dashboard brings Scrump's moderation archive and image-protection activity together for authorized server staff.
## Access the dashboard
Open [scrumpbot.com](https://scrumpbot.com), select **Servers**, choose a server, and open **Security**.
The default access policy allows members with **Ban Members** or **Manage Server**. A member with **Manage Server** can choose different required Discord permissions and whether viewers need any or all selected permissions.
Dashboard access settings control who can view security data. They do not grant Discord moderation permissions.
## Moderation tools
Plus and Pro include:
* A searchable moderation archive.
* Moderation actions over time.
* Per-moderator action totals and breakdowns.
* Custom plain-text or embed DMs for moderation targets.
* A dropdown for choosing which moderation alert message to edit.
* Reason redaction for sensitive archive text.
See [Moderation](/features/moderation) for command and archive details.
The same dashboard configures the shared moderation log used by staff actions and scam alerts. Plus custom messages are retained but stop sending after a downgrade. Pro-only unwanted-image and bad-avatar matching also stops after a downgrade while saved reference entries remain read-only.
## Scam-image activity
The dashboard shows images scanned, detections over time, recent detections, and blurred examples where available. Detection internals are intentionally not shown.
All plans can report:
* A **false positive** from a recent detection.
* A **missed detection** with a Discord message link or direct image upload.
Reports are limited to ten valid submissions per server per day and duplicate images are combined for review.
| Plan | Recent detections and reports | Graphs and history |
| ---- | ----------------------------- | ------------------ |
| Free | Latest 3 days | Not included |
| Plus | Included | 30 days |
| Pro | Included | 2 years |
Customer-facing examples use blurred thumbnails. Source images used for protected internal review are not available through guild dashboard routes.
## Permission warnings
The dashboard warns when Scrump is missing permissions needed by configured features, including:
* View Audit Log
* Ban Members
* Kick Members
* Timeout Members
* Manage Messages
Grant only the permissions needed for the moderation actions and protection settings you enable.
## Image protection
Pro adds two server-specific visual matching tools:
* [Block Unwanted Images](/features/moderation/block-unwanted-images) checks message attachments against up to 250 saved images.
* [Bad-avatar detection](/features/moderation/bad-avatar-detection) checks each new member's display avatar against up to 100 saved avatars.
Both tools support exact, very-high-confidence, and high-confidence matching, configurable enforcement, optional rich member messages, and moderation archive records. Timeout actions can be configured from 30 minutes to 30 days and default to 1 day.
# Music Favourites
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/music/favourites
Save favourite songs in Discord with Scrump Music, manage your personal Favourites playlist, and open it in the user dashboard.
Scrump Music Favourites is a personal playlist for songs you want to keep. It belongs to your Discord account, so the same saved songs are available in every server where Scrump Music is available.
## Save the song playing now
1. Start a song with `/play` and wait for playback to begin.
2. Run `/now-playing`.
3. Select the heart **Favourite** button on the now-playing panel.
Scrump saves the exact track currently shown in the panel. The button is unavailable when there is no current track. Saving a song that is already in Favourites does not create a duplicate.
The confirmation is private to you and includes the track title, artist, album, duration, and a source link when one is available. It also includes **Unfavourite** and **See favorites** actions.
## Open Favourites in the dashboard
Select **See favorites** in the confirmation to open the user dashboard with the Favourites playlist selected. The link has this shape:
```text theme={null}
https://scrumpbot.com/dashboard/?view=playlists&playlist=
```
The playlist identifier is added automatically; you do not need to find or copy it. From the dashboard you can search for tracks, add songs, reorder tracks, remove tracks, and review the complete playlist.
You can also open the dashboard directly and choose **Favourites** from the playlist list. Dashboard changes are account-scoped and do not change the shared queue in a server.
## Remove a favourite song
* Select **Unfavourite** in the private confirmation after saving a song.
* Remove the track from the Favourites playlist in the user dashboard.
If the confirmation has expired, open the dashboard to manage the playlist instead. Removing a song does not stop it for anyone currently listening.
## Favourites limits and rules
* Favourites is created automatically the first time you save a song.
* Its name is **Favourites** and its description is **Your favourite songs**.
* The system playlist is not counted against your normal personal playlist limit.
* Favourites can store up to 10,000 tracks on every plan.
* The name and description are fixed, but the tracks can be managed like a personal playlist.
* Favourites are private to your account unless you deliberately use the playlist sharing action.

# Music Filters and Audio
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/music/filters-and-audio
Change bass, 8D audio, reverb, nightcore, playback speed, volume, and audio quality in Scrump Music.
Scrump can change how the shared queue sounds with audio filters, playback speed, and volume controls. These changes affect everyone listening in the active voice channel.
## Open the filters panel
Use the **Filters** button on `/now-playing` or `/queue view` to open a compact control panel in the channel. The panel shows which presets are on and lets listeners toggle bass boost, 8D audio, reverb, and nightcore without running another command.
Playback speed appears in the same panel. Use the **−0.25x** and **+0.25x** buttons to adjust it, or **Reset to 1x** to return to normal speed. The controls stop at Scrump's supported range of 0.1x to 3.0x.
Running any `/filters toggle` or `/filters song-speed` command also opens the updated panel after the change, so you can continue adjusting the sound from one place.
## Toggle an audio filter
| Command | Sound |
| ---------------------------- | --------------------------------------- |
| `/filters toggle bass-boost` | Emphasizes lower frequencies |
| `/filters toggle 8d-audio` | Moves the sound around the stereo field |
| `/filters toggle reverb` | Adds a spacious echo effect |
| `/filters toggle nightcore` | Applies a faster, higher-pitched preset |
Run the same command again to turn that filter off. Multiple filters can produce a much stronger effect than one filter by itself.
## Change playback speed
* `/filters song-speed fast` sets playback to 1.25x.
* `/filters song-speed slow` sets playback to 0.75x.
* `/filters song-speed custom speed:` accepts a value from 0.1x to 3.0x.
```text theme={null}
/filters song-speed custom speed:1.5
```
Speed changes affect the active playback session. Use `1.0` as the custom speed to return to normal.
## Change volume
Run `/player volume volume:` with a value from 1 to 300.
```text theme={null}
/player volume volume:80
```
100% is the normal level. Values above 100% amplify the audio and may cause distortion, especially when combined with bass boost.
## Enhanced queue requirement
Filters, speed, volume, and full-queue looping require an enhanced queue. A queue is enhanced when either:
* The server has Plus or Pro; or
* A member with Scrump Blue is currently participating in that voice channel.
Scrump Blue queue benefits last only while the Blue member is participating. If the queue returns to standard access, Scrump removes enhanced filters, restores 1.0x speed and 100% volume, turns off queue looping, and returns to the free queue limit and audio target.
## Audio quality
| Queue access | Target audio quality | Maximum queue size |
| ----------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------: | ----------------------------------: |
| Free server without an active Blue member | 64 kbps | 250 songs |
| Plus or Pro server | Up to 256 kbps | 10,000 songs |
| Queue with a participating Blue member | Up to 256 kbps while they participate | 10,000 songs while they participate |
The actual audio quality cannot exceed the Discord voice channel's bitrate. A server boost level or channel setting can therefore limit the effective bitrate even when Scrump targets 256 kbps.
Changing Scrump's volume or adding filters cannot improve the quality of the original recording. If one song sounds poor while others do not, try another version of that song.

# Music
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/music/index
Play music in Discord with song searches, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, and Apple Music links, shared queues, playlists, audio filters, and server controls.
Scrump Music lets members play songs together in a Discord voice channel. Search by song name, paste a supported Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music link, build a shared queue, save personal playlists, and control playback without leaving Discord.
## Start playing music
Join the Discord voice channel where you want to listen. Scrump uses your current voice channel when you run a music command.
Run `/play` and enter a song name or a supported Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music track, album, artist, or playlist link in the `search` field.
```text theme={null}
/play search:Never Gonna Give You Up Rick Astley
```
Scrump joins automatically when it can. You can also run `/join` first.
Run `/queue view` to see what is playing and what comes next. Use its buttons or the player, skip, loop, and queue commands to manage playback.
Create a personal playlist with `/playlist create new`, then add searches, supported music links, or the song currently playing.
You must be in Scrump's active voice channel to make playback changes. Some server-wide actions also require **Move Members** or a configured DJ role.
## Scrobble Discord music to Last.fm
Scrump works with [.fmbot bot scrobbling](https://fm.bot/botscrobbling/) so listeners can scrobble songs played in Discord to their Last.fm accounts. A server manager must add `.fmbot` to the server first. Each listener then connects their Last.fm account with `.fmbot` and runs `/botscrobbling` to check or configure scrobbling.
When a new song starts, Scrump sends the track to `.fmbot` for listeners who are in the active voice channel, are not deafened, and have connected their Last.fm account. The now-playing message shows how many listeners are scrobbling through `.fmbot`; the note is hidden when no listeners are eligible.

## What music responses look like
Routine confirmations and user errors are short messages that only you can see. Scrump uses richer displays when the information benefits from them, including the queue, now-playing view, lyrics, playlist contents, and public skip votes.
When Scrump cannot complete a command, the message should explain what happened and give you a useful next action, such as joining the active voice channel, starting a queue, or choosing a valid playlist.
## Free, server plans, and Scrump Blue
Every server can use the core music commands. Plus, Pro, and Scrump Blue add higher queue limits, improved target audio quality, filters, speed, volume, and queue looping.
Scrump Blue belongs to a user rather than a server. Its queue benefits apply only while that Blue user is participating in the active voice channel. Blue does not unlock server-only controls such as 24/7 mode or the server song blocklist.
See [settings, permissions, and plan access](/features/music/settings-and-permissions) for a full comparison.
# Playing Songs and Music Service Links
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/music/playing-songs
Play music by song name, saved Scrump playlist, or supported Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, and Apple Music link, then manage the shared Discord queue.
Use `/play` to add music to the server's shared queue. Enter a song or a supported Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music URL in `search`, or choose one of your saved Scrump playlists in `playlist`.
## Play a song by name
Start typing a title, artist, album, or a combination of them. Choose an autocomplete result when you see the correct song, or submit the text and Scrump will use the best catalog match.
```text theme={null}
/play search:Blinding Lights The Weeknd
```
Adding the artist is the easiest way to avoid a cover, remix, or another song with the same title.
## Play a saved Scrump playlist
Choose a saved playlist from the `playlist` autocomplete field:
```text theme={null}
/play playlist:Road trip
```
Scrump queues the playlist in its saved order, subject to the active queue, per-user, duration, blocklist, and server playlist-size limits. A playlist belongs to your Discord account and can be used in any server where Scrump Music is available. Use only one of `search` or `playlist` for each `/play` request.
## Play a Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music link
Paste a supported HTTPS music link into `/play`. The same four resource types work across every supported service.
| Link type | What `/play` adds |
| --------- | ------------------------------------------------ |
| Track | The linked song |
| Album | Songs from the album, up to the active limits |
| Artist | The artist's top 10 tracks |
| Playlist | Songs from the playlist, up to the active limits |
```text theme={null}
/play search:https://open.spotify.com/track/4cOdK2wGLETKBW3PvgPWqT
/play search:https://tidal.com/browse/album/251380836
/play search:https://www.deezer.com/artist/27
/play search:https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/todays-hits/pl.f4d106fed2bd41149aaacabb233eb5eb
```
Normal tracking parameters and locale segments are accepted. Spotify and Deezer shortened sharing links are also expanded when they lead to a supported track, album, artist, or playlist.
Scrump uses the linked service to identify the title, artist, album, artwork, duration, and recording where available. It then matches that metadata through its playable catalog; it does not stream audio directly from Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music. A valid linked item can therefore still be unavailable to play.
## Supported link formats
Use a track, album, artist, or playlist URL from one of these hosts:
```text theme={null}
https://open.spotify.com/track/...
https://spotify.link/...
https://tidal.com/browse/track/...
https://listen.tidal.com/browse/album/...
https://www.deezer.com/playlist/...
https://deezer.page.link/...
https://link.deezer.com/...
https://music.apple.com/us/artist/.../...
```
Scrump does not accept:
* `spotify:track:...` and other Spotify app URIs
* Links beginning with `http://`
* Podcast, episode, video, station, or other non-music resource links
* Lookalike domains, links with embedded credentials, custom ports, or URL fragments
Apple Music commonly represents a track as an album URL containing a song ID in `?i=...`; Scrump recognizes that as the linked track. If any service changes a sharing URL format, search for the song by title and artist instead.
## Queue limits for albums, artists, and playlists
Collection links can add multiple songs, but Scrump stops at the first applicable limit. This can include:
* A maximum of 500 resolved songs from one album or playlist link
* A maximum of 10 songs from one artist link
* The remaining queue capacity
* The server's maximum imported playlist size
* The maximum number of tracks one member may queue
* The server's minimum or maximum allowed track duration
* A blocked song
If only part of a linked collection is added, check the queue and ask a DJ or member with **Move Members** to review the server's music settings.
## View the current song
Run `/now-playing` for the current title, artist, progress, requester, and playback state. Its compact controls let listeners refresh the status, pause or resume playback, and open lyrics or the audio filters panel as a new message without replacing the shared now-playing panel.
Run `/queue view` when you also want to see upcoming songs. Its controls include the same public **Lyrics** and **Filters** buttons.
If [.fmbot bot scrobbling](https://fm.bot/botscrobbling/) is available in the server, Scrump can scrobble the songs you hear to Last.fm. A server manager must add `.fmbot`, then you can connect your Last.fm account and run `/botscrobbling` with `.fmbot` to check or configure scrobbling. The now-playing message shows the number of eligible listeners being scrobbled when at least one listener is connected and not deafened.
## Show lyrics
Use the **Lyrics** button on `/now-playing` or `/queue view`, or run `/lyrics` while a song is playing. Lyrics require server Plus or Pro, which unlocks them for everyone in the server, or your own Scrump Blue subscription. [Scrump Blue is a personal subscription](/help-center/buying-scrump-blue) whose music benefits follow you into any active Scrump voice channel you join.
Lyrics depend on a matching result being available. If Scrump cannot find lyrics for that exact recording, try another version of the song.
## Join or leave voice
* `/join` makes Scrump join your current voice channel without adding a song.
* `/leave` makes Scrump leave voice and clears the active queue.
For playback changes after Scrump has joined, move into the same voice channel as Scrump first.

# Personal Music Playlists
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/music/playlists
Create, fill, edit, reorder, share, and delete personal Scrump music playlists in Discord.
Scrump playlists belong to your Discord account, so you can reuse them across servers where Scrump Music is available. They are separate from the temporary queue playing in one server.
## Play a saved playlist
Use `/play` and choose a playlist from the `playlist` autocomplete field:
```text theme={null}
/play playlist:Road trip
```
Songs are added in their saved order until the active queue, member, duration, blocklist, or server limits are reached. Use either `search` or `playlist` in `/play`, not both.
## Create a playlist
Create an empty playlist:
```text theme={null}
/playlist create new name:Road trip description:Songs for the drive
```
Or copy the server's current queue into a new playlist:
```text theme={null}
/playlist create from-queue name:Friday night
```
Creating from the queue requires an active queue and copies songs in their current order, up to your playlist limit.
## Add a song by search or music-service link
Run `/playlist songs add`, choose one of your playlists, and enter either a song name or a supported Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music URL.
```text theme={null}
/playlist songs add playlist:Road trip search:Dreams Fleetwood Mac
/playlist songs add playlist:Road trip search:https://open.spotify.com/track/0ofHAoxe9vBkTCp2UQIavz
/playlist songs add playlist:Road trip search:https://tidal.com/browse/track/75413016
```
The `search` field accepts the same autocomplete results, raw song names, and supported track, album, artist, or playlist URLs as `/play`.
`/playlist songs add` always adds one song. An album, artist, or playlist URL from any supported service saves only the first song Scrump resolves. Use `/play` when you want to expand a collection into the server queue, then use `/playlist create from-queue` if you want to save that queue as a playlist.
See [Playing songs and music-service links](/features/music/playing-songs) for supported URL formats and common link fixes.
## Save the song playing now
Run:
```text theme={null}
/playlist songs add-now-playing playlist:Road trip
```
This saves the current song without making you search for it again. If there is no active queue or no song is playing, start a song with `/play` and retry the command.
The former `/playlist add-current` command is now `/playlist songs add-now-playing`.
## View your playlists and songs
* `/playlist my-playlists` lists your playlists and their song counts.
* `/playlist view playlist:` shows one playlist and its contents.
* `/playlist songs list playlist:` also shows the songs in one playlist.
Playlist choices use Discord autocomplete, so start typing the playlist name and select the intended result.
## Edit and arrange a playlist
| Command | Result |
| ---------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/playlist edit name` | Renames a playlist |
| `/playlist edit description` | Changes its description |
| `/playlist reorder-songs` | Moves a song from one numbered position to another |
| `/playlist songs remove` | Removes one song selected from autocomplete |
| `/playlist songs remove-all-after` | Keeps songs through a position and removes everything after it |
| `/playlist delete` | Permanently deletes the playlist |
Review `/playlist view` before bulk removal or deletion so you have the correct playlist and position.
## Share a playlist
Run `/playlist share` to create a private response containing an import link. Anyone who has that link can import a copy of the playlist into their own Scrump music library.
Run `/playlist unshare` to disable the current share link. Imported copies already created by other users are not removed.
Treat a playlist share link like any other unlisted link: send it only to people you want to have access to the playlist contents.
## Playlist limits
| Account access | Personal playlists | Songs per playlist |
| ------------------ | -----------------: | -----------------: |
| Free, Plus, or Pro | 3 | 30 |
| Scrump Blue | 500 | 10,000 |
Plus and Pro are server plans and do not increase a member's personal playlist storage. Scrump Blue is the user subscription that expands personal playlist limits.

# Queue and Playback Controls
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/music/queue-and-controls
View and clean the music queue, pause or skip songs, configure looping, and seek through the current track.
Everyone in Scrump's active voice channel shares one music queue. Members can add songs and manage their own entries, while server managers can perform wider cleanup and configure voting rules.
## View and navigate the queue
Run `/queue view` to see the current song, upcoming songs, requesters, loop state, and queue size. Use the page option for a specific page or the **Previous** and **Next** buttons on the response.
The queue display also includes controls for pagination, refresh, pause or resume, and opening the current song's lyrics or the audio filters panel as a new channel message.
## Pause, resume, stop, and volume
| Command | Result |
| ------------------------ | ----------------------------------- |
| `/player pause` | Pauses the current song |
| `/player resume` | Continues paused playback |
| `/player stop` | Stops playback and clears the queue |
| `/player volume volume:` | Sets volume from 1% to 300% |
Volume adjustment requires an enhanced queue. Very high volume can distort already-loud tracks, so start near 100% and increase it gradually.
## Shuffle and remove songs
| Command | Result |
| --------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/queue shuffle` | Randomizes the upcoming queue |
| `/queue remove song` | Removes one selected queue entry |
| `/queue remove my-songs` | Removes every song you requested |
| `/queue remove all` | Clears the full queue; requires **Move Members** or a DJ role |
| `/queue remove duplicates` | Removes duplicate entries; requires Plus, Pro, or Blue access |
| `/queue remove absent-user-songs` | Removes songs requested by members who left voice; requires Plus, Pro, or Blue access |
When removing one song, choose it from Discord's autocomplete list. The number is its current queue position and can change when songs are added, removed, shuffled, or skipped.
## Skip songs and skip voting
* `/skip current-song` starts or completes a vote to skip the current song.
* `/skip amount amount:` votes to skip several songs at once, up to 100.
* `/skip user-songs user:` removes songs queued by another member. This requires server Plus or Pro and **Move Members** or a DJ role.
If you have management access, Scrump can bypass the public vote where appropriate. Otherwise, eligible listeners in the active voice channel can vote on the displayed skip message. Deafened listeners are not counted as eligible voters.
Server managers can change the vote requirement with `/music-settings vote-skip percentage`, or enable and disable voting with the corresponding `enable` and `disable` commands.
## Loop the current song or queue
| Command | Result |
| -------------------- | --------------------------------------------------- |
| `/loop current-song` | Repeats the current song |
| `/loop queue` | Repeats the whole queue; requires an enhanced queue |
| `/loop off` | Turns looping off |
Looping one current song is available to everyone. Looping the full queue requires server Plus or Pro, or an active queue containing a Scrump Blue user.
## Seek, rewind, and restart
The following advanced controls require Pro or Scrump Blue:
* `/song skip-forward duration:` moves forward by a duration such as `30 seconds`.
* `/song rewind duration:` moves backward by a duration such as `1 minute`.
* `/song seek duration:` moves to an exact position such as `2 minutes 15 seconds`.
* `/song restart` returns to the beginning of the song.
These controls may not be available for every item. Scrump will tell you when the active song cannot be seeked.
## Voice-channel access
Join the same voice channel as Scrump before changing playback. If Scrump is in another channel, move there or ask the listeners in that channel to manage their queue.

# Music Settings and Permissions
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/music/settings-and-permissions
Configure DJ roles, voting, song announcements, voice channel status, queue limits, blocklists, 24/7 mode, and music plan access.
Core Scrump Music commands are available in every server. Voice-channel membership controls everyday playback, while **Move Members**, DJ roles, server plans, and Scrump Blue determine access to advanced features.
## Who can control music?
For normal playback changes, a member must be in Scrump's active voice channel.
The following management actions require **Move Members**, **Administrator**, or a role configured as a music DJ role:
* Clearing the queue with `/queue remove all`
* Changing server music settings
* Managing the server song blocklist
Removing another member's queued songs with `/skip user-songs` additionally requires server Plus or Pro.
## Configure DJ roles
A DJ role gives trusted members the music-management capability normally provided by **Move Members**, without granting that Discord permission for unrelated voice moderation.
| Command | Result |
| --------------------------------------- | ------------------------- |
| `/music-settings dj-roles add role:` | Adds a DJ role |
| `/music-settings dj-roles remove role:` | Removes a DJ role |
| `/music-settings dj-roles list` | Shows configured DJ roles |
You need **Move Members**, **Administrator**, or an existing DJ role to manage these settings.
## Configure queue rules
| Command | Setting |
| ---------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- |
| `/music-settings min-track-duration duration:` | Rejects songs shorter than the chosen duration |
| `/music-settings max-track-duration duration:` | Rejects songs longer than the chosen duration |
| `/music-settings max-playlist-size size:` | Limits how many songs a collection can add to the queue |
| `/music-settings max-user-tracks amount:` | Limits how many songs one member can keep queued |
Durations accept readable values such as `30 seconds`, `5 minutes`, or `1 hour`.
These rules apply to song-name searches and supported Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, and Apple Music links. For example, a linked playlist can be valid while some or all of its songs are skipped because of duration, blocklist, collection-size, user, or queue limits.
## Configure skip voting
* `/music-settings vote-skip enable` allows public skip votes.
* `/music-settings vote-skip disable` disables public skip voting.
* `/music-settings vote-skip percentage percentage:` changes the percentage of eligible listeners whose **Yes** vote is required.
Only eligible listeners in Scrump's active voice channel count toward the vote. Deafened and self-deafened members are excluded.
## Configure song announcements
Run `/music-settings announce-songs enable channel:` to post a now-playing announcement when a song starts. Run `/music-settings announce-songs disable` to stop the announcements.
Make sure Scrump can view the chosen text channel, send messages, and embed links there.
By default, Scrump also shows `🎶 Listening to {song} by {artist} with Scrump` as the active voice channel status when each song starts. A server manager can turn this off from the server music dashboard. Scrump needs the **Set Voice Channel Status** permission to update it.
## Use 24/7 mode
Run `/24-7` to toggle persistent voice mode. This keeps the server's music session available for longer instead of treating it as a normal temporary queue.
24/7 mode requires server Plus or Pro. Scrump Blue does not unlock 24/7 mode because Blue is a personal benefit rather than a server plan.
## Song blocklists
Server managers can prevent selected songs from being added:
```text theme={null}
/song-block-list add song:
/song-block-list remove song:
```
The server blocklist requires Plus or Pro and supports up to 50 songs on Plus or 10,000 on Pro.
A member with Scrump Blue can maintain a personal global blocklist with `/user-song-block-list add` and `/user-song-block-list remove`. It follows that user across servers and supports up to 10,000 songs. Blue does not add capacity to the server blocklist.
## Plans and Scrump Blue
| Feature | Free | Server Plus | Server Pro | Scrump Blue |
| ---------------------------------- | ------: | -------------: | -------------: | ---------------------------------: |
| Queue size | 250 | 10,000 | 10,000 | 10,000 while participating |
| Target audio | 64 kbps | Up to 256 kbps | Up to 256 kbps | Up to 256 kbps while participating |
| Filters, speed, volume, queue loop | No | Yes | Yes | Yes while participating |
| Lyrics | No | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Seek, rewind, forward, restart | No | No | Yes | Yes |
| 24/7 mode | No | Yes | Yes | No |
| Personal playlists | 3 × 30 | 3 × 30 | 3 × 30 | 500 × 10,000 |
| Server song blocklist | No | 50 | 10,000 | No server benefit |
| Personal global song blocklist | No | No | No | 10,000 |
Scrump Blue enhances only a queue in which the Blue user is currently participating. Its supported music benefits follow that user into active Scrump voice channels across servers, but it does not convert a server to Plus or Pro or grant server settings or management permissions.
See [how to buy Scrump Blue](/help-center/buying-scrump-blue) for personal subscription and gifting guidance, or [plans, trials, and upgrades](/help-center/plans-trials-and-upgrades) for server subscription guidance.

# Music Troubleshooting
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/music/troubleshooting
Fix common Scrump Music errors involving voice channels, queues, Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, Apple Music links, playlists, permissions, plans, and audio.
Scrump's music errors are designed to be useful without exposing private service details. Most errors are ephemeral, which means only the person who ran the command can see them.
## Scrump says to join a voice channel
Join a Discord voice channel and retry the command. If Scrump is already active elsewhere in the server, join Scrump's current voice channel before changing that queue.
Also check that Scrump can **Connect** and **Speak** in the voice channel. A full voice channel may require Scrump to have permission to bypass its user limit.
## There is no active queue or current song
Commands such as `/now-playing`, `/lyrics`, `/playlist songs add-now-playing`, pause, skip, and seek need an active song.
Run `/play` to start the queue, wait for playback to begin, and retry the command. If you only want Scrump to connect first, use `/join`.
## A music-service link is not recognized
Check that the link:
* Begins with `https://`
* Points to a track, album, artist, or playlist
* Uses a supported Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music web address
* Is a normal web or supported shortened sharing URL rather than a provider app URI
If a shortened Spotify or Deezer link still fails, open it in a browser and copy the final supported HTTPS address. You can always enter the song and artist name instead.
See [supported music links](/features/music/playing-songs#supported-link-formats) for examples.
## Scrump cannot find or play a song
For a text search, add the artist and album to make the query more specific, then choose the correct autocomplete result.
A supported link identifies the intended music, but Scrump still has to match it in its playable catalog. Some regional releases, uncommon recordings, podcasts, local files, and removed music may not be available.
Apple Music metadata access uses Apple Music's public web application and can require maintenance when Apple changes that site. If a previously valid Apple Music link temporarily stops resolving, search for the song by title and artist and retry the link later.
If a collection adds fewer songs than expected, check the queue capacity and the server's track-duration, imported-playlist, per-user, and song-blocklist rules.
## A playlist command cannot find my playlist or song
Start typing the playlist or song name and select an autocomplete choice. Do not paste a playlist's internal identifier or type a queue position from memory.
For `/playlist songs add-now-playing`, make sure a song is actively playing. For `/playlist create from-queue`, make sure the server has an active queue.
If you reached a storage limit, remove an old playlist or song. Free, Plus, and Pro users can store 3 personal playlists with 30 songs each; Scrump Blue expands this to 500 playlists with 10,000 songs each.
## A queue or linked collection stops early
Scrump may stop adding songs when it reaches:
* 250 queued songs on standard access or 10,000 on enhanced access
* 500 resolved songs from one album or playlist link
* 10 songs from one artist link
* The server's configured maximum imported playlist size
* The server's per-user queued-song limit
* A blocked or disallowed track duration
Run `/queue view` to review what was added. A member with **Move Members** or a DJ role can review server music settings.
## A command says a plan or enhanced queue is required
Different controls have different requirements:
* Filters, playback speed, volume, and queue looping need server Plus or Pro, or a participating Scrump Blue member.
* Lyrics need Plus, Pro, or Blue.
* Seeking, rewinding, skipping forward, and restarting need Pro or Blue.
* 24/7 mode needs server Plus or Pro; Blue alone does not unlock it.
If the queue depended on a Blue member, that member must currently be participating in the active voice channel for queue-wide Blue benefits to apply.
## A command says I need Move Members or a DJ role
Ask a server administrator to grant the appropriate Discord permission or configure a DJ role with `/music-settings dj-roles add`.
DJ access is still subject to plan requirements. For example, managing a server song blocklist needs Plus or Pro in addition to music-management access.
## Scrump is connected but there is no audio
Check these Discord settings first:
* Scrump is not server-muted.
* Your Discord client has not muted Scrump or turned its user volume down.
* You are in the same channel as Scrump.
* Scrump has **Speak** permission in the channel.
* The song is not paused; try `/player resume`.
Then try another song. If several known songs fail, leave and restart the session with `/leave`, `/join`, and `/play`. If the problem continues, contact [Scrump Support](https://scrumpbot.com/support) with the server name, command used, and approximate time of the failure.
## Audio sounds distorted or too quiet
Return volume to 100% with `/player volume volume:100`, turn off active filters by running their toggle commands again, and restore normal speed with `/filters song-speed custom speed:1.0`.
Discord's voice-channel bitrate caps the effective quality. Increasing Scrump's volume or enabling bass boost does not raise that bitrate and can introduce distortion.

# How to Quote a Discord Message
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/quotes
Turn a Discord message into a shareable quote image, customize quote themes, save favorite quotes, and send generated quotes to a dedicated server channel.
Scrump lets you quote a Discord message as a shareable image containing the message text, author name, and avatar. The Discord quote generator works from the message context menu, so you do not need to copy text into a separate quote maker or image editor.
Generating and saving Discord quotes does not require special server permissions.
## How to quote someone on Discord
Right-click the Discord message you want to quote. On mobile, tap and hold the message.
Open **Apps** and select **Generate Quote**. Scrump creates a quote image using the original message content, author, and avatar.
The generated image is posted in the current conversation. Select **Save to your quotes** if you want to add it to your personal saved-quotes collection.
Scrump renders message text, mentions, line breaks, and Discord emoji in quote images. To include both sides of a reply, first quote the reply and then use **Generate Quote** on the referenced message within 60 seconds.
## Change the Discord quote theme
Run `/user-settings quote-theme theme:` to choose how messages authored by you look when someone generates a quote from them.
```text theme={null}
/user-settings quote-theme theme: Personal theme (generated from your avatar)
```
Available Discord quote themes include Dark, Personal, Ultra dark, Green text, Light mode, Blurple, Hacker, Spark, Karma, Bait, Fresh, Cool, Typeset, Icarus, Hazard, Slaying, Oxford, Rosy, and inverse variants.
The personal theme uses colours generated from the quoted author's Discord avatar. To return your own messages to the default style, select **Dark (default)**.
## Save and manage Discord quotes
Select **Save to your quotes** below a generated image to keep the original quote in your Scrump account.
Use `/quotes view quote:` to search for and repost a saved quote. Use `/quotes delete quote:` to remove one from your saved collection. Saved quotes are also available from the Scrump user dashboard.
## Create a server quote channel
Server managers can automatically forward generated quote images to a dedicated highlights, memories, or hall-of-fame channel.
Run `/quote-guild-settings set-quote-channel channel:` and select the destination.
```text theme={null}
/quote-guild-settings set-quote-channel channel: #server-quotes
```
This setting requires **Manage Server**. Scrump also needs permission to send messages, embed links, and attach files in the destination channel. Run the command without selecting a channel to remove the server quote destination.
## Discord quote troubleshooting
If **Generate Quote** is missing or the image cannot be posted, check that:
* Scrump is installed for the server or your Discord account.
* You opened the message's **Apps** context menu rather than the normal slash-command list.
* The selected message contains text.
* Scrump can attach files in the current channel.
* Scrump can send messages and attach files in the configured server quote channel.
## Discord quote FAQ
### How do you quote a message on Discord?
Right-click the message, choose **Apps**, and select **Generate Quote**. Scrump turns the Discord message into an image with the author's avatar, name, and original text.
### Does Discord have a quote command?
Discord has replies and blockquote formatting, but it does not natively turn a message into a styled quote image. Scrump adds a **Generate Quote** message action for that purpose.
### Can I make a Discord quote image on mobile?
Yes. Tap and hold the message, open **Apps**, and select **Generate Quote**.
### Can I save funny or memorable Discord quotes?
Yes. Select **Save to your quotes** under the generated image, then use `/quotes view` or the Scrump user dashboard to find it later.
### Can a server collect every generated quote in one channel?
Yes. A manager can run `/quote-guild-settings set-quote-channel` to forward new quote images to a selected server channel.

# How to Set Discord Reminders
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/reminders
Use a Discord reminder bot for one-time or recurring DM reminders, natural duration commands, reminder lists, snoozing, dashboard management, and iCal feeds.
Scrump is a Discord reminder bot that sends personal reminders by DM. You can create a one-time reminder, schedule a recurring reminder, snooze it when it arrives, manage upcoming reminders from Discord or the web dashboard, and subscribe to them from a calendar app.
Discord reminders can be used by everyone and do not require server-management permissions.
## How to set a reminder in Discord
Run `/reminders create what: when:`. Describe what you want to remember in `what:` and enter a relative duration in `when:`.
```text theme={null}
/reminders create what: Drink water when: 90 minutes
```
Scrump accepts natural relative durations such as `10 minutes`, `2 hours`, `1 day`, `3 weeks`, or `6 months`. A reminder must be at least one minute away and no more than three years away.
See the [relative time syntax guide](/help-center/relative-time-syntax-with-scrump) for more examples.
## Create a recurring Discord reminder
Add the optional `repeat:` value to make a repeating reminder.
```text theme={null}
/reminders create what: Post the weekly server update when: 1 week repeat: 1 week
```
After each delivery, Scrump schedules the next occurrence using the repeat interval. If the bot was unavailable for several intervals, it advances to the next future occurrence instead of sending every missed reminder. The recurring Discord reminder continues until you mark it complete or delete it.
Useful recurring reminder ideas include:
* Daily check-ins or medication reminders
* Weekly server announcements and event planning
* Monthly moderation or community reviews
* Regular game-night, study-session, or meeting reminders
## Manage Discord reminders
Use `/reminders list` to view your upcoming reminders and reminder IDs.
Use `/reminders delete reminder_id:` to delete a one-time or recurring reminder. Discord autocomplete helps you select one of your existing reminders.
```text theme={null}
/reminders delete reminder_id: 123456789
```
You can also sign in at [scrumpbot.com](https://scrumpbot.com) and open the user dashboard to search, create, and manage reminders. The dashboard provides one-time, daily, weekly, every-two-weeks, and every-30-days schedules.
## Reminder DMs, completion, and snoozing
When a reminder arrives in your Discord DMs, you can:
* Mark the reminder as complete
* Snooze it and choose another duration
* Let a recurring reminder schedule its next delivery
If your Discord privacy settings prevent bot DMs, allow direct messages or otherwise make sure Scrump can contact your account.
## Add Discord reminders to a calendar
Run `/reminders create-calendar-subscription` to generate a private iCal subscription link. You can add this feed to compatible calendar software to see upcoming Scrump reminders outside Discord. Running the command again replaces the old private link.
You can also download the reminders iCal feed from the Scrump user dashboard. Treat the subscription URL as private because anyone with the link may be able to read the reminder feed.
## Discord reminder troubleshooting
If the reminder command does not accept a time, check that:
* The duration includes a number and unit, such as `45 minutes` or `2 days`.
* The reminder is between one minute and three years in the future.
* The recurring `repeat:` duration is also within that range.
* Scrump is allowed to send DMs to your Discord account.
* The reminder still appears in `/reminders list`.
## Discord reminder bot FAQ
### How do I set a reminder on Discord?
Use `/reminders create what: when:`. For example, `/reminders create what: Join the meeting when: 2 hours` creates a personal reminder that Scrump sends by DM.
### Can Discord reminders repeat every day or week?
Yes. Add `repeat: 1 day`, `repeat: 1 week`, or another supported duration when creating the reminder.
### Are Scrump reminders posted publicly in a server?
No. Scrump reminders are personal and are delivered by Discord DM. Commands used in a server do not turn the reminder into a public server announcement.
### Can I snooze a Discord reminder?
Yes. When the reminder DM arrives, select the snooze option and choose when Scrump should remind you again.
### Can I view Discord reminders in Google Calendar or another calendar app?
Use `/reminders create-calendar-subscription` to create an iCal feed, then subscribe to that private URL from an iCal-compatible calendar application.

# Discord Server Statistics and Analytics
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/server-statistics
View Discord server stats in a private analytics dashboard with message activity, member growth, joins, leaves, voice activity, peak hours, and filters.
Scrump provides a private Discord server statistics dashboard for understanding community activity over time. Server managers can track message volume, membership growth, joins and leaves, peak activity hours, and, on supported plans, voice activity plus per-channel or per-user breakdowns.
Use these Discord analytics to answer questions such as when the server is most active, whether membership is growing, which channel drives conversation, and how activity changes after an event or announcement.
The statistics feature is available to every server using Scrump. Discord permissions and Free, Plus, and Pro plan limits still determine who can open the private dashboard and which history, resolutions, filters, and voice data are available.
Use the web dashboard for longer history, hourly data, voice activity, timezone controls, and interactive analytics.
## How to view Discord server stats
Sign in at [scrumpbot.com](https://scrumpbot.com), select **Servers**, and choose the Discord server you want to analyse.
Open **Statistics** from the server dashboard navigation.
Select an available time window, then choose hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly data where supported by the server plan.
On Plus and Pro, select the whole server, one Discord channel, or one member to inspect a more specific activity trend.
By default, the Discord statistics dashboard requires **Manage Server**. A server manager can change the required Discord permissions from the dashboard's **Dashboard access** settings.
## Discord analytics available in Scrump
* **Message activity** shows how many messages were sent over time.
* **Voice activity** shows time spent in Discord voice channels on Pro.
* **Joins versus leaves** compares new members with departures.
* **Total membership** shows the server's member-count trend.
* **Activity by hour and day** reveals the busiest times when hourly data is available.
* **Channel filters** help identify which text channel generated activity on Plus and Pro.
* **User filters** show one member's activity trend on Plus and Pro.
In the web dashboard, user and channel filters cannot be combined in the same query. The statistics dashboard is private and is not the same as the public Discord leveling leaderboard.
## Discord server stats history by plan
| View | Free | Plus | Pro |
| ----------------------- | ------------ | ------------- | -------- |
| Daily activity | 7 days | 30 days | 2 years |
| Hourly activity | Not included | Latest 7 days | 2 years |
| User or channel filters | Not included | Included | Included |
| Joins and leaves | 3 days | 30 days | 2 years |
| Voice activity | Not included | Not included | Included |
Statistics begin when Scrump's current statistics system starts collecting for a server. Dates before that collection point are left blank rather than displayed as zero activity.
Changing plans changes which Discord analytics history and breakdowns are visible. It does not delete the statistics already collected for the server.
## Set the Discord statistics timezone
Server managers can select an IANA timezone from the Statistics settings. Daily and weekly totals, plus hour-of-day charts, use that timezone.
Changing the timezone rebuilds the server's statistics rollups and can be done once every six hours. The dashboard may take a short time to reflect the new timezone while the rebuild completes.
## Missing Discord statistics
If the server statistics dashboard is empty or missing expected activity, check that:
* You have the Discord permissions required by the dashboard access policy.
* Scrump is installed and has recently synchronized the server.
* The selected date range does not predate the collection start shown on the page.
* The requested resolution and history are included in the server plan.
## Discord server statistics FAQ
### How can I see my Discord server statistics?
Sign in to Scrump, open your server dashboard, and select **Statistics**. The private dashboard shows messages, joins, leaves, total membership, peak hours, and other available Discord activity data.
### Can I see when my Discord server is most active?
Yes. Hourly data includes an activity-by-hour-and-day view that helps identify busy weekdays and peak times. Hourly history is available on Plus and Pro.
### Can I see how many messages a Discord channel or member sent?
Plus and Pro can filter the statistics view by one channel or one user at a time. Scrump does not combine both filters in one query.
### Does Scrump track Discord voice activity?
Voice-channel activity is available on Pro and is displayed as time spent in voice channels.
### Is there a Discord server stats command?
Yes. Use `/graph members`, `/graph joins`, or `/graph messages` for a quick 14-day chart in Discord. Open the web **Statistics** dashboard for the detailed analytics, longer history, and plan-specific breakdowns.
### Are Discord statistics the same as the audit log?
No. Statistics show aggregate activity trends such as messages, joins, leaves, and voice time. The Discord audit log and Scrump [moderation tools](/features/moderation) record specific administrative or moderation actions.
### Are Discord server analytics public?
No. The statistics dashboard is private and protected by the server's dashboard access policy. It is separate from an optional public leveling leaderboard.

# How to Set Up a Discord Starboard with Scrump
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/features/starboard
Set up a Discord Starboard channel that highlights popular messages, images, videos, stickers, author avatars, and jump links after enough reactions.
Scrump Starboard copies popular server messages into one highlight channel after they receive enough matching reactions. Each Starboard post keeps the original message text, author, supported media, current reaction count, and a **Jump to message** button.
## What Scrump posts to Starboard
Every Starboard entry uses Discord's layout and can include:
* A title containing the configured emoji, current reaction count, and the author's `@username`.
* The original message content.
* The author's display avatar as a thumbnail.
* Supported image and video attachments, stickers, and media from message embeds.
* A **Jump to message** button that opens the original conversation.
When someone adds or removes the configured reaction, Scrump updates the existing Starboard post instead of creating a duplicate. The entry remains visible if its count later falls below the creation threshold. Deleting the original message deletes its Starboard entry too.
## Before you set up Starboard
You need the **Manage Server** permission to configure Starboard.
Scrump should have:
* **View Channel** and **Read Message History** in channels whose messages may reach Starboard.
* **View Channel** and **Send Messages** in the destination Starboard channel.
Create a public or staff-visible text channel such as `#starboard`, `#best-of`, or `#community-highlights` before starting.
## Set up Starboard with a slash command
Run:
```text theme={null}
/starboard setup
```
Choose the destination channel and the number of reactions needed. Free servers can select 3, 4, or 5 reactions and use the standard ⭐ emoji and Scrump colour.
Plus and Pro servers can also:
* Set any threshold from 1 to 50.
* Paste a Unicode emoji such as `🔥` or `💛`.
* Paste a custom emoji from the same Discord server.
* Choose the side colour with a hexadecimal colour such as `#F5B942`.
Custom emoji must belong to the server where Starboard is being configured. Emoji from another server are rejected.
## Set up Starboard from the dashboard
1. Open the [Scrump server dashboard](https://scrumpbot.com/servers).
2. Select the server you manage.
3. Open **Engagement**, then **Starboard**.
4. Enable Starboard and choose its destination text channel.
5. Select the reaction threshold.
6. On Plus or Pro, choose the emoji and side colour.
7. Save the changes.
Dashboard changes are checked again by the bot before they become active. This prevents hidden channels, invalid custom emoji, missing bot permissions, or plan-restricted settings from being applied.
## View the current settings
Run:
```text theme={null}
/starboard settings
```
Scrump shows the active channel, threshold, emoji, and side colour. Settings are evaluated against the server's current plan, so a Free server always uses the Free appearance and threshold range.
## Change an existing Starboard
Run `/starboard setup` again with the new values, or edit Starboard in the server dashboard. Scrump updates the server's saved configuration.
Messages already posted to Starboard update their count and appearance the next time the configured reaction changes. New qualifying messages use the current destination and settings.
## Disable Starboard
Run:
```text theme={null}
/starboard disable
```
You can also turn off **Enable Starboard** in the dashboard. Disabling stops new messages from being added. It does not delete the original messages in your server.
## Choose a good Starboard threshold
Use a threshold that represents real community agreement without making highlights too rare:
| Server activity | Suggested starting threshold |
| -------------------------------- | ---------------------------: |
| Small or quiet server | 3 |
| Medium community | 4-6 |
| Busy community | 7-12 |
| Very large or event-heavy server | 15 or more |
Free servers can use 3, 4, or 5. Plus and Pro support the full 1-50 range. Review the channel after a week and adjust based on how many messages are being highlighted.
## Troubleshooting
### A message has enough stars but was not posted
Check that:
* The reaction matches the configured emoji exactly.
* Scrump can view the source channel and read its message history.
* Scrump can view and send messages in the Starboard channel.
* Starboard is still enabled for the server.
* The message was not sent by Scrump itself.
After correcting permissions, add or remove one matching reaction to make Scrump check the message again.
### A custom emoji is rejected
Use a custom emoji from the same server. You can also use a standard Unicode emoji. Custom emoji and custom colours require Plus or Pro.
### Images or videos are missing
Scrump includes supported media attachments, non-Lottie stickers, and supported embed media. Unsupported file types remain available through the original message's jump link.
### The reaction count went below the threshold
The threshold controls when an entry is first created. After that, Scrump keeps the entry and updates its displayed count when reactions are added or removed. Delete the original source message if the highlight should also be removed.
## Frequently asked questions
### Does Starboard work on Free?
Yes. Free servers can use the standard ⭐ reaction, the standard Scrump side colour, and a threshold of 3, 4, or 5.
### Can Starboard use a server emoji?
Yes on Plus and Pro. Paste the custom emoji into the emoji field or `/starboard setup` option. It must belong to the current server.
### Will the same message be posted more than once?
No. Scrump stores one Starboard entry per original message and updates that entry as the reaction count changes.
### What happens when the original message is deleted?
Scrump deletes the corresponding Starboard post and removes its saved entry.

# Discord Account Hacked? How to Recover and Secure It
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/guidelines/discord-account-hacked
Recover a hacked Discord account, remove malware, reset your password, enable 2FA, revoke suspicious apps, and stop scam messages.
If your Discord account sent a scam image or link that you did not post, treat the account and the device you use for Discord as compromised. Act quickly, but use a different, trusted device for password changes if you think you installed malware.
Discord staff will not DM you inside Discord to investigate a report, reverse a ban, or secure your account. Do not pay anyone, share a code, scan a QR code, or change your account email for a person claiming to be Discord support.
## How Discord Accounts Get Hacked
Many Discord accounts used to spread scams are stolen by **information-stealing malware**, not by someone guessing the password. The malware is commonly hidden in:
* Trojanized game mods, including unofficial Minecraft mods and mod installers
* Cracked software, cheats, plugins, and modified Discord clients
* A fake game or beta test sent by a friend whose account was already hacked
* Fake verification tools, CAPTCHA downloads, and "security" applications
* Malicious browser extensions or files advertised as free Nitro
These files can steal Discord sessions, browser cookies, saved passwords, cryptocurrency wallets, and other accounts. A password reset alone may not be enough if the infected device can steal the new password or session again.
Phishing is another common cause. Fake Discord login pages, QR-code login prompts, and the "I accidentally reported your account" scam are designed to make you hand over access yourself.
## 1. Secure Your Email Account First
Your email account controls Discord password resets, so secure it before or alongside Discord.
* Change the email password from a clean device and use a password you have never used elsewhere.
* Enable two-factor authentication on your email account.
* Review recent sign-ins, recovery addresses, forwarding rules, and active sessions.
* If Discord emailed you that your address was changed, use the recovery link in that email immediately.
Do not click password-reset links from an unexpected Discord DM. Open Discord or type the official address into your browser yourself.
## 2. Reset Your Discord Password
Go to [discord.com/reset](https://discord.com/reset) immediately. If you cannot access the account or its email address, submit Discord's official [hacked account form](https://dis.gd/hackedaccount).
Choose a password that is:
* At least 12 characters long; a longer passphrase is even better
* Unique to Discord and never reused on another website
* Stored in a reputable password manager
Resetting the password invalidates existing Discord sessions, which helps remove the attacker from other devices. Do the reset from a clean phone or computer if the usual device may contain malware.
## 3. Check the Device for Malware
Think back to anything you downloaded or ran shortly before the account was hacked, especially a game mod, mod installer, cheat, plugin, cracked program, or verification tool.
1. Disconnect the suspected device from the internet if you find an unknown process, security alert, or confirmed infection.
2. Remove unfamiliar browser extensions and uninstall suspicious applications.
3. Run a full scan with Windows Security (Microsoft Defender) and a reputable second-opinion scanner such as Malwarebytes.
4. Review recently downloaded files, startup applications, and installed programs.
If an information stealer or other malware is found, the safest response is to **reinstall Windows from trusted installation media**. Some stealers leave persistence behind, and a scanner reporting that it removed one file does not prove the device is clean.
Back up only personal documents, photos, and other known data files before reinstalling. Do not carry over unknown executables, scripts, installers, mods, or browser profiles. From a separate clean device, change passwords for your email, password manager, Discord, gaming accounts, financial accounts, and any other credentials stored in the affected browser.
## 4. Enable Two-Factor Authentication
In Discord, open **User Settings -> Password and Authentication** and enable multi-factor authentication.
* Prefer an authenticator app, security key, or passkey when available.
* Do not rely on SMS as your only protection.
* Download the backup codes and store them somewhere private and offline.
* Never send an authentication code or backup code to another person.
Two-factor authentication makes a stolen password less useful, although malware that steals an active session can sometimes bypass it. Keeping the device clean still matters.
## 5. Revoke Suspicious Apps and Sessions
Open **User Settings -> Authorized Apps** and deauthorize anything you do not recognize or no longer use. A malicious OAuth application may be able to access account information or make your account join servers even after the original scam.
Also review:
* **Connections** for accounts you did not link
* New servers, friends, and direct-message conversations
* Changes to your profile, email address, phone number, or security settings
* Authorized devices and sessions shown by Discord, if available
Only authorize applications you deliberately opened from a developer or service you trust. An OAuth consent screen is not proof that an app is safe.
## 6. Review Messages Sent by the Hacker
Attackers often use a stolen Discord account to send the same malicious mod, fake game, scam image, or phishing link to friends and servers.
* Check recent DMs and outgoing server messages for anything you did not write.
* Delete malicious messages where you still can.
* Warn recipients not to open the link, scan the QR code, or run the file.
* Tell server moderators that your account was compromised so they can remove copies and warn members.
* If private or sensitive information was exposed, notify the affected people promptly.
Anyone who downloaded or ran the file should follow this guide too. Simply deleting the message does not remove malware from their device.
## 7. Check Purchases and Payment Details
Review Discord purchases, Nitro gifts, and the payment methods connected to the account. If you find an unauthorized Discord charge, include it in your hacked-account report and contact [Discord Billing Support](https://dis.gd/billing).
Keep screenshots, emails, dates, transaction IDs, and relevant message links. Avoid filing duplicate support tickets because that can make the case harder to track.
## Stay Safe After Recovery
* Do not download unofficial mods, cheats, cracks, or "test my game" files without independently verifying the source.
* Treat a file sent by a friend as untrusted if the message is unusual; their account may be hacked.
* Never scan a random Discord QR code for verification, a giveaway, or staff support.
* Check the complete website domain before entering a password or approving OAuth access.
* If a site asks you to sign in again unexpectedly, close it and open Discord directly.
* Keep Windows, your browser, antivirus software, Discord, and game launchers updated.
* Use a password manager so every important account has a different password.
If Scrump notified you about a scam sent from your account, that warning does not mean Scrump hacked or accessed the account. It means Scrump detected known scam content posted in a server with scam protection enabled.

# How to Make a Starboard in Discord
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/guidelines/how-to-make-a-discord-starboard
Learn what a Discord Starboard is, how to create a best-messages channel with star reactions, which threshold to choose, and how to troubleshoot a Starboard bot.
A Discord Starboard is a channel that collects messages the community considers funny, useful, memorable, or important. Members vote by adding a reaction—usually ⭐—and a Starboard bot copies messages that reach a chosen threshold into a dedicated highlights channel.
This guide explains how to make a Starboard in Discord with Scrump, how to choose its settings, and how to keep the resulting best-messages channel useful.
## What is a Discord Starboard?
A Starboard turns reactions into a lightweight community-curation system:
1. Someone posts a message, image, video, or sticker.
2. Other members react with the Starboard emoji.
3. The message reaches the server's threshold.
4. The bot posts it in a channel such as `#starboard` or `#best-of`.
5. The post links back to the original conversation.
Unlike a quote command, members do not need to run a command for every highlight. Unlike a sticky message, Starboard does not keep one notice at the bottom of a channel. It creates an ongoing archive selected by the community.
## How to create a Starboard channel in Discord
### 1. Create the highlights channel
Create a text channel with a clear name:
* `#starboard`
* `#best-of`
* `#community-highlights`
* `#hall-of-fame`
Let members view the channel. Limit who can send messages there if you want the channel to contain only bot-created highlights.
### 2. Give the bot the right permissions
Scrump needs to view source channels and read their message history. In the destination channel, it needs **View Channel** and **Send Messages**.
If private staff channels should never appear on Starboard, do not give Scrump access to them for this purpose, or manage channel permissions so the intended audience remains clear.
### 3. Configure the Starboard bot
With Scrump, run:
```text theme={null}
/starboard setup
```
Select the channel and threshold. You can make the same changes from the server dashboard under **Engagement → Starboard**.
Free servers use ⭐ with a threshold of 3, 4, or 5. Plus and Pro servers can use thresholds from 1 to 50, a Unicode or same-server custom emoji, and a custom side colour.
See the [Scrump Starboard reference](/features/starboard) for every command and plan option.
### 4. Test the setup
Post a test message in a channel Scrump can read. Add the configured reaction from enough accounts to reach the threshold. Confirm that the Starboard entry contains:
* The reaction count and original author's username.
* The message content.
* The author's display avatar.
* Supported message media.
* A jump button linking to the source.
Remove and add a reaction to verify that the existing entry updates instead of being duplicated.
## What Starboard threshold should you use?
The best threshold depends on active members, not total member count.
* Start at **3** for a small server or a new Starboard.
* Try **4 to 6** for a medium, regularly active community.
* Try **7 to 12** for a busy server.
* Use **15 or more** only when many members regularly see and react to each message.
A threshold of 1 can be useful for a private staff-curated highlights channel, but it is usually too low for community voting. A threshold that is too high makes the Starboard look abandoned. Review the first week of posts and tune it.
## Pick the right reaction emoji
⭐ is familiar and easy to understand, which makes it the safest default. A custom emoji can fit a server's identity, but members need to recognise that it is a vote for Starboard.
Good alternatives include:
* 🔥 for impressive or funny posts.
* 💛 for supportive community moments.
* A server mascot emoji for a branded highlights channel.
Avoid using an emoji already associated with moderation reports, event signups, or another automation. One reaction should communicate one action.
## Ways to use a Discord Starboard
### Community highlights
Save jokes, artwork, screenshots, achievements, and memorable conversations without requiring moderators to curate every post.
### Helpful answers
Use a Starboard as a searchable collection of explanations, guides, and solutions shared by experienced members.
### Event memories
Highlight competition results, live-event reactions, game-night moments, and community milestones.
### Staff recognition
Use a separate emoji or a higher threshold to collect especially helpful moderation, support, or onboarding interactions—while respecting the privacy of staff-only channels.
## Starboard moderation tips
* State what the Starboard emoji means in your rules or channel topic.
* Do not encourage reaction brigading or asking for stars.
* Keep sensitive, support, and private channels out of public highlight workflows.
* Use a higher threshold if inside jokes or repeated low-context posts overwhelm the channel.
* Use a lower threshold if strong messages rarely qualify.
* Delete the original message when a highlight needs to be removed; Scrump removes its Starboard entry too.
## Starboard bot troubleshooting
### The bot does not post a qualifying message
Confirm that the exact configured emoji reached the threshold. Then check **View Channel** and **Read Message History** in the source channel and **View Channel** plus **Send Messages** in the Starboard channel. Add or remove one matching reaction after fixing permissions.
### The Starboard count is wrong
Scrump updates the copied post when the configured reaction is added or removed. Make sure members are using the exact configured emoji rather than a similar-looking Unicode or custom emoji.
### A custom Discord emoji does not work
The emoji must come from the same server. Scrump supports Unicode emoji on paid server plans too, which is useful when a custom emoji is unavailable.
### A deleted message is still visible
Scrump listens for message deletion and removes the matching Starboard entry. If Discord permissions prevented cleanup, restore the bot's channel access and remove the remaining post manually.
## Frequently asked questions
### Can you make a Discord Starboard without a bot?
You can copy messages manually, but Discord does not automatically move messages after a reaction threshold. A Starboard bot is needed for automatic counting, posting, updating, media copying, and deletion cleanup.
### What is the best Discord Starboard bot?
Choose a bot that prevents duplicate posts, updates counts when reactions change, preserves message media, links to the original message, validates channel permissions, and offers settings appropriate for your server. Scrump includes these behaviors and can be configured by slash command or dashboard.
### Should a Starboard channel be read-only?
Often, yes. Letting members view and react while limiting normal messages keeps the archive easy to browse. You can still allow discussion if that suits the community.
### Does removing a star delete the Starboard post?
With Scrump, removing a reaction updates the displayed count. Once an entry has qualified, it remains on Starboard even if the count falls below the original threshold. Deleting the source message removes the entry.
Follow the command and dashboard instructions, review plan options, and fix common permission issues.
# How to Make Discord Roles Sticky After Members Rejoin
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/guidelines/how-to-make-discord-roles-sticky
Learn how to make Discord roles sticky after a member leaves, restore roles on rejoin, exclude temporary roles, and troubleshoot Discord role hierarchy with Scrump.
When members leave a Discord server, Discord normally removes their server roles. A Discord sticky roles bot can remember those role assignments and restore them when the same account returns. Scrump provides this workflow with a disabled-by-default setting, slash commands, and a web dashboard.
## What are sticky roles in Discord?
Sticky roles are persistent member roles that are saved when a user leaves and reapplied when that user rejoins. They are useful for community access roles, language roles, interest groups, supporter roles, and other roles that should survive a temporary departure.
Sticky roles are different from Discord auto roles. Auto roles give the same onboarding roles to every new member. Sticky roles restore the returning member's own previous roles.
## How to set up a Discord sticky roles bot
Add Scrump to the server and grant **Manage Server** and **Manage Roles**. Move the Scrump bot role above the roles it should restore.
Run `/sticky-roles enable` in the server, or open **Sticky roles** in the Scrump dashboard and turn it on.
On Plus or Pro, run `/sticky-roles block-role add role:` for roles such as event access, verification, muted, or temporary staff roles. You can manage the complete list in the dashboard.
Have a test member leave and rejoin with the same Discord account. Scrump restores eligible roles shortly after Discord reports the join.
## Best uses for sticky Discord roles
Searchers often look for a Discord bot that keeps roles after leaving, a role persistence bot, or a rejoin role restoration bot. Sticky roles work well for:
* Community access and verified-member roles.
* Language, region, and interest roles.
* Supporter or subscriber roles that are still valid.
* Alumni, contributor, and returning-member roles.
Do not use sticky restoration for roles that represent a one-time check or temporary punishment. Put those roles on the blocked-role list instead.
## Discord sticky role limits by plan
Scrump keeps sticky restoration available on every plan. Blocked-role exclusions are a paid configuration control:
| Scrump plan | Excluded roles |
| ----------- | -------------------------- |
| Free | No blocked-role selections |
| Plus | 5 excluded roles |
| Pro | Unlimited excluded roles |
The feature itself remains opt-in. A downgrade does not silently turn sticky restoration off, but Free servers cannot add or edit blocked roles until a paid plan is active.
## Why Discord roles may not come back
Role persistence depends on Discord permissions and role hierarchy. Scrump skips roles that were deleted, are managed by an integration, are explicitly blocked, or sit above the bot's highest role. Check the following before troubleshooting the command:
* Scrump has **Manage Roles** in the server.
* The Scrump role is above the role to restore.
* The member returned with the same Discord account.
* Sticky roles is still enabled.
* The role is not a blocked temporary role.
## Commands for sticky Discord roles
```text theme={null}
/sticky-roles enable
/sticky-roles disable
/sticky-roles block-role add role: @Role
/sticky-roles block-role remove role: @Role
/sticky-roles block-role list
```
The dashboard is useful when staff need to review several excluded roles at once. Slash commands are convenient for a single role change or a quick enable/disable action.
## Sticky roles FAQ
### Can a Discord bot restore roles after a ban?
Sticky roles records a member's roles when Discord reports a leave. Server staff should still decide whether a banned member may return; Discord permissions and moderation policies take priority over automatic restoration.
### Does sticky roles copy role permissions?
No. The bot stores role IDs and reuses the existing Discord roles. It does not clone roles, change permissions, or recreate deleted roles.
### How do I make only selected roles sticky?
Enable sticky roles, then block roles that must never return. Every other existing, assignable role in the member's snapshot is eligible for restoration.
### Is a sticky role bot safe for large Discord servers?
Scrump restores roles only for the member who rejoined, filters invalid roles at that moment, and performs no bulk role changes. Keep the bot's role hierarchy and blocked-role policy reviewed as your server grows.

# How to Play Music on Discord with a Music Bot
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/guidelines/how-to-play-music-on-discord
Learn how to play songs and Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music links on Discord, manage a music queue, create playlists, use audio filters, and fix common music bot problems.
The easiest way to play music on Discord is to use a music bot in a voice channel. With Scrump, members can search for songs, paste supported Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music links, share a server queue, save personal playlists, and control playback with Discord slash commands.
This guide explains how to set up and use Scrump as a Discord music bot. For the complete command reference, open the [Scrump Music documentation](/features/music/index).
## How to add a music bot to Discord
Visit [scrumpbot.com/invite](https://scrumpbot.com/invite?utm_source=docs-music-guide), choose **Add to Server**, and select the server where you have permission to add apps.
Make sure Scrump can **View Channel**, **Connect**, and **Speak** in the voice channel. It also needs permission to send its queue and now-playing responses in the text channel where members use commands.
Join the voice channel where you want the music bot to play. Scrump connects to the channel occupied by the member who starts the queue.
Run `/play`, enter a song and artist in the `search` field, and select the correct autocomplete result.
```text theme={null}
/play search:Blinding Lights The Weeknd
```
Scrump normally joins automatically when you use `/play`. Run `/join` if you want the bot to connect before choosing a song.
## How to play Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, and Apple Music links on Discord
Paste a supported music URL into the `/play` search field. Scrump accepts tracks, albums, artists, and playlists from Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, and Apple Music. Artist links add the artist's top 10 tracks.
```text theme={null}
/play search:https://open.spotify.com/track/4cOdK2wGLETKBW3PvgPWqT
/play search:https://tidal.com/browse/album/251380836
/play search:https://www.deezer.com/artist/27
/play search:https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/todays-hits/pl.f4d106fed2bd41149aaacabb233eb5eb
```
| Music link | Music added to Discord |
| ---------- | ------------------------------------------------ |
| Track | The linked song |
| Album | Album tracks, up to the active limits |
| Artist | The artist's top tracks, up to the active limits |
| Playlist | Playlist tracks, up to the active limits |
Scrump uses the linked service to identify the title, artist, album, artwork, and intended recording. It then matches the music through its playable catalog instead of streaming audio directly from that provider. This means a valid item may occasionally be unavailable to play.
Use an HTTPS web link from Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music. Spotify and Deezer shortened sharing links are also supported. Provider app URIs and HTTP links are not supported.
Read [Playing songs and music-service links](/features/music/playing-songs) for every supported URL format, collection limit, and troubleshooting step.
## How to scrobble Discord music to Last.fm
Scrump can scrobble music played in a Discord voice channel to Last.fm through [.fmbot bot scrobbling](https://fm.bot/botscrobbling/). This lets each listener keep their own Last.fm listening history while the server uses Scrump for playback.
A server manager must add `.fmbot` before Scrump can send track details for scrobbling.
Use `.fmbot` to connect the Last.fm account that should receive your listening history.
Run `/botscrobbling` with `.fmbot` to check or configure your scrobbling settings.
When a song starts, Scrump sends it to `.fmbot` for eligible listeners in the active voice channel. You must be connected to that channel, not deafened, and connected to Last.fm. The now-playing message shows the number of listeners being scrobbled when at least one listener is eligible.
## How to manage a Discord music queue
Every listener in Scrump's active voice channel shares the same queue. Run `/queue view` to see the current song, upcoming songs, requesters, loop mode, and navigation controls.
Common Discord music queue commands include:
* `/queue shuffle` to randomize upcoming songs
* `/queue remove song` to remove one entry
* `/queue remove my-songs` to remove songs you requested
* `/skip current-song` to skip or start a public skip vote
* `/player pause` and `/player resume` to pause or continue playback
* `/player stop` to stop playback and clear the queue
* `/now-playing` to show the current song and progress
You must join Scrump's active voice channel before changing playback. Clearing the queue with `/queue remove all` and changing server music settings require **Move Members** or a configured DJ role.
See [Queue and playback controls](/features/music/queue-and-controls) for looping, multi-song skips, cleanup commands, and Pro or Blue seeking controls.
## How to make a Discord music playlist
Scrump playlists belong to your Discord account and can be reused across servers.
Play a saved playlist directly from the shared queue command:
```text theme={null}
/play playlist:Road trip
```
Start typing a playlist name and select the autocomplete result. Scrump keeps the saved order and applies the same queue, duration, blocklist, and per-user limits as other `/play` requests.
Create an empty playlist:
```text theme={null}
/playlist create new name:Road trip
```
Add a song by title or a supported music-service link:
```text theme={null}
/playlist songs add playlist:Road trip search:Dreams Fleetwood Mac
```
Save the song currently playing:
```text theme={null}
/playlist songs add-now-playing playlist:Road trip
```
You can also use `/playlist create from-queue` to save the current song and queued songs in their existing order.
`/playlist songs add` saves one song. If you provide an album, artist, or playlist link from any supported service, it saves only the first resolved track. Use `/play` to add the collection to the server queue, then `/playlist create from-queue` to save the resulting queue.
Use `/playlist my-playlists` to find your playlists and `/playlist view` to see their contents. The [personal playlist guide](/features/music/playlists) explains editing, reordering, sharing, removal, and storage limits.
## How to use Discord music filters
Scrump supports bass boost, rotating 8D audio, reverb, nightcore, playback speed, and volume changes.
```text theme={null}
/filters toggle bass-boost
/filters toggle 8d-audio
/filters song-speed fast
/player volume volume:80
```
Filters, speed, volume, and full-queue looping require an enhanced queue. A server with Plus or Pro receives enhanced music access. A Scrump Blue member also enhances the active queue while that member is participating in its voice channel.
The [Music filters and audio guide](/features/music/filters-and-audio) explains each effect, normalizing volume and speed, and Discord voice-channel bitrate limits.
## Discord music bot permissions and DJ roles
Most members can search, queue, and control music while they are in the active voice channel. Server-wide management actions require **Move Members**, **Administrator**, or a configured DJ role.
Use these commands to manage trusted music roles:
```text theme={null}
/music-settings dj-roles add role:
/music-settings dj-roles remove role:
/music-settings dj-roles list
```
Server managers can also configure skip voting, song announcements, allowed track durations, imported playlist size, per-user queue limits, and server song blocklists. See [Music settings and permissions](/features/music/settings-and-permissions) for commands and plan requirements.
## Is the Scrump Discord music bot free?
Core playback, song searches, supported music-service links, queues, current-song looping, and personal playlists are available for free. A standard queue supports up to 250 songs and targets 64 kbps audio.
Server Plus and Pro provide queues of up to 10,000 songs, target up to 256 kbps audio, and unlock filters, speed, volume, and queue looping. Scrump Blue gives similar queue benefits while the Blue member participates and expands that user's personal playlist storage, but it does not unlock server-only features such as 24/7 mode.
The actual audio quality is capped by the Discord voice channel's bitrate. Review the [Music plan comparison](/features/music/settings-and-permissions#plans-and-scrump-blue) before choosing a server plan or Scrump Blue.
## Why is the Discord music bot not playing?
If Scrump joins voice but you cannot hear music:
* Confirm you are in the same voice channel as Scrump.
* Check that Scrump is not server-muted and has **Speak** permission.
* Check your Discord user-volume setting for Scrump.
* Run `/player resume` in case playback is paused.
* Try a well-known song to determine whether one recording is unavailable.
* Use `/leave`, then start a fresh session with `/play`.
If Scrump rejects a link, use a supported HTTPS Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music track, album, artist, or playlist URL. If a command says there is no active queue, start a song with `/play` before using now-playing, lyrics, skip, seek, or add-now-playing commands.
See [Music troubleshooting](/features/music/troubleshooting) for queue limits, playlist errors, plan requirements, missing audio, and friendly recovery steps.
## Discord music bot FAQ
### Can a Discord music bot play Spotify, Tidal, Deezer, or Apple Music links?
Yes. Scrump accepts supported track, album, artist, and playlist URLs from all four services in `/play`. It uses the provider metadata to identify and match playable music rather than streaming audio from that service itself.
### How do I play a Spotify playlist on Discord?
Paste an `https://open.spotify.com/playlist/...` URL or its shortened `https://spotify.link/...` sharing link into `/play`. Scrump adds resolved songs until it reaches the collection-resolution, queue, server playlist, per-user, duration, or blocklist limit. Tidal, Deezer, and Apple Music playlist links work the same way.
### How do I see what song a Discord bot is playing?
Run `/now-playing` to see the current song and progress. Run `/queue view` to see the current song together with upcoming requests.
### Can everyone add songs to the Discord queue?
Members in the active voice channel can normally add songs. Server managers can limit the number of songs each member may queue and block songs that should not be played.
### Can I save a Discord music queue as a playlist?
Yes. Run `/playlist create from-queue` to copy the current song and upcoming queue into a personal playlist, up to your playlist storage limit.
### How do I keep a music bot in Discord voice 24/7?
Run `/24-7` to toggle Scrump's persistent voice mode. This feature requires a server with Plus or Pro; Scrump Blue alone does not unlock it.

# Buy Scrump Blue for Discord music
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/help-center/buying-scrump-blue
Learn how to buy or gift Scrump Blue, choose monthly or yearly billing, and use personal Discord music benefits across servers and voice channels.
Scrump Blue is a user subscription tied to one Discord account. Unlike server Plus or Pro, Blue does not need to be assigned to a server: its supported music benefits follow the subscribed user into any active Scrump music voice channel they join.
Server Plus and Pro already include lyrics and other server music benefits. Blue is useful when you want your own music subscription to work across servers rather than upgrading one server.
## Buy Scrump Blue for yourself
Sign in with Discord and open [Scrump Blue](https://scrumpbot.com/dashboard/?view=blue).
Select the available billing period you prefer. The dashboard shows the current price before checkout.
Stripe securely collects your payment details. Scrump does not receive your full card information.
Return to Discord and join a voice channel where Scrump Music is active. Your Blue entitlement is attached to your Discord account, so there is no server-assignment step.
## Where Blue works
Your personal benefits, including lyrics, seeking controls, larger playlist storage, and your global song blocklist, are available to the subscribed Discord account.
While you are participating in an active Scrump music voice channel, Blue can also enhance that queue with the larger queue limit, higher target audio quality, filters, playback speed, volume controls, and queue looping. These queue benefits can travel with you between servers and end when you leave the active voice channel.
Blue does not convert a server to Plus or Pro. It does not unlock server-only settings such as 24/7 mode, the server song blocklist, or server management permissions.
## Gift Scrump Blue
Open the [Scrump Blue dashboard](https://scrumpbot.com/dashboard/?view=blue), find **Gift Scrump Blue**, and enter the beneficiary's Discord user ID before choosing monthly or yearly billing.
The beneficiary receives the Blue entitlement, while the purchaser remains responsible for billing. Check the Discord user ID carefully before starting checkout so the subscription is attached to the intended account.
## Manage or cancel Blue
Return to the [Scrump Blue dashboard](https://scrumpbot.com/dashboard/?view=blue) to confirm who receives each Blue purchase. When the **Manage billing** button is available, it opens Stripe's customer portal for payment-method and cancellation controls.
If Blue does not appear in Discord after checkout:
* Confirm you signed into the same Discord account that receives the subscription.
* Confirm that account is in the active music voice channel.
* Leave and rejoin the voice channel, then retry the music command.
* Remember that server-only Plus or Pro controls are not included with Blue.

Compare Scrump Free, Plus, and Pro and understand trials, upgrades, and retained data
Scrump has three public plans: Free, Plus, and Pro. See current checkout options at [scrumpbot.com/pricing](https://scrumpbot.com/pricing).
## Public plans
| Plan | Price | Best for |
| ---- | ------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Free | EUR 0 | Core moderation and community features |
| Plus | EUR 3.99 monthly or EUR 29.99 yearly | Higher limits, chart channels, archives, and deeper statistics |
| Pro | EUR 12.99 monthly or EUR 97.99 yearly | Every public feature, two-year history, voice statistics, blocked images, and bad-avatar detection |
Pro includes everything in Plus. Each paid subscription can be assigned to one Discord server at a time.
Starboard is available on every plan. Free servers can choose a threshold of 3, 4, or 5 with the standard ⭐ reaction and Scrump side colour. Plus and Pro unlock thresholds from 1 to 50, Unicode or same-server custom emoji, and a custom side colour. See [How to set up a Discord Starboard](/features/starboard).
## Seven-day Pro trial
The `/free-trial` command opens a seven-day Stripe trial of Pro.
* Anyone who belongs to the server can start its trial; **Manage Server** is not required.
* A payment method authorization is required.
* Billing starts when the seven days end unless the subscription is canceled first.
* Each Discord user can only ever start one trial, and each Discord server can only ever receive one.
* Failed membership or eligibility checks do not consume the trial.
## Upgrades and downgrades
Use the server dashboard to change an eligible Stripe subscription between Plus and Pro. Stripe calculates the proration for the remaining billing period before the change is confirmed.
Downgrading hides plan-restricted history and features; it does not delete retained statistics, archives, custom messages, blocked-image entries, or bad-avatar entries. Upgrading reveals eligible retained data again.
Examples:

# Scrumps Time Syntax
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/help-center/relative-time-syntax-with-scrump
Information on how to use relative time syntax with Scrump
Scrump uses a form of natural language to parse time durations.
For example, you can set a time of "1 minute" with the literal text "`1 minute`", or "`1min`", "`2 minutes`", "`3m`", etc.
We also support:
* `seconds`, `second`, `secs`, `sec`, `s` for seconds
* `minutes`, `minute`, `mins`, `min`, `m` for minutes
* `hours`, `hour`, `hrs`, `hr`, `h` for hours
* `days`, `day`, `dys`, `dy`, `d` for days
* `weeks`, `week`, `wks`, `wk` `w` for weeks
* `months`, `month`, `mos`, `mo` for months
* `years`, `year`, `yrs`, `yr`, `y` for years
You can combine several of these in a message for more complex times, such as `3 days 4hrs 2m 30 seconds`, or `1y2mo3w4d5h6m7s`!
# Slash command migration
Source: https://docs.scrumpbot.com/help-center/slash-command-migration
How to migrate to slash commands
## Scrump has migrated over to slash commands!
We know this change may come as a shock (as we are... a bit late), but this is a long-needed and highly-requested change!
Moving over to slash commands is super simple- so simple that you don't need to do anything!
Just hit `/` on your keyboard and watch the options appear!
### Can't find an old text-command?
Type `!command` (where `!` is your old prefix) and you'll be sent the new `/` equivalent!

Move a Scrump Plus or Pro subscription between Discord servers
## Transfer a subscription between servers
Sign in at [scrumpbot.com](https://scrumpbot.com), open **Servers**, find the subscription, choose another eligible server, and select **Assign**.
Subscriptions can be moved after the seven-day transfer cooldown shown in the dashboard. The destination server must already have Scrump installed and be manageable by your Discord account.
This can only be done for subscriptions [purchased via Stripe](/help-center/buying-plus-guide).
